Although the house has stayed the same, the experience has changed a lot since I was there in the 1970s. Now there is a large visitor center with a museum, theater showing a short movie, Café, and gift shop. You take a shuttle to the house. We enjoyed the tour explaining a slave’s life before our tour of the house. It was a wonderful visit.
Had a great time. The view was phenomenal, and the tour guide was great.
Monticello is as impressive as it’s famed occupant ever was. The enormity and detail is staggering for the time period when Thomas Jefferson lived there. Considering that his family had to sell it all after his death, the restoration and reacquisition of items by the Levy family and later on, the foundation is truly incredible. It is really an experience to behold.
Monticello is a great place for anyone interested in history, architecture, and agriculture.
Always enjoy coming here. Brought my husband this time and he was in awe. Will be bringing family during the Christmas holidays.
Take the time to see this place. It’s like you walk back in history!
