The food tasted really good. The guacamole was awesome. The sausa was great. And I also thought the tamale was good. I had the Monterey Dinner. It had a little of everything. Had a queso chip, two cheese enchiladas, a taco, rice and beans as well as everything mentioned before. I would recommend Monterey House with four stars.
Absolutely the best Mexican food around! Their queso is the best around . Great family owed resturant. I have ate here for close to 40 yrs. And BTW do not ask for the "Bobby" special lol its an inside joke.
I've eaten there almost all my life, it's a family tradition, although when we walked in there was a putrid oder like sewer drains, we had to walk to the other side of the resteraunt so we couldn't smell it
What a great experience. So much Tex-Mex history to this place. Thank you Bob and Sandra. The food was wonderful. I am sorry that reviewer Liz Gray seemed to have a bad experience here. As with the other reviewers, our experience here was great. I loved having the time and opportunity to chat with you both, learn a little of the history and of course, enjoy a wonderfully prepared meal of classic Tex-Mex. Highly recommended. Always good food. Only problem was I ordered my food and then my husband ordered his. I got my food and 15 minutes later my husband still didn't have his food. He looks on the check and the waitress never even wrote his order down. So he got aggravated and sat there while I ate my food. We left and he got a burger down the road.
