WHAT SERVICE!?!?! – What attracted us to go to Mona Lisa was the extensive menu selection. The pasta selection was neverending!! I think the menu selection was the ONLY positive thing about our experience. Once we were sat down by a window, that's where everything went downhill. The waiter was quick to get what we wanted to eat, but after that, it was as if our waiter did not exist! Not once did the waiter come back to see how we were doing or give us refills for our soda and water. The waiter (and other waiters) were too bu... read more

This customer is not smiling! – While the menu appears long, it really is just 6 pastas in 6 sauces, and the meats/poultry/fish in a limited number of preparations. Not much different than most Italian restaurants across the US. Small portions (just one piece of chicken breast in the chicken piccata!). But what really made this meal memorable was the terrible service. Long wait (45 minutes between salad and dinner), no fresh ground pepper or grated Parmesean cheese offered, even though it was on the service buffet. No attent... read more

Great Food! – I live in San Diego, but I go to Mona Lisa every time I visit San Francisco. It is the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. I let everyone I know about Mona Lisa when they have vacation plans to San Francisco. I'm going there on business in October and plan to eat there every night. :)

Best Italian Ever – I'm not sure that the people posting the bad reviews were at the same restaurant...my fiancee and I eat lunch or dinner here everytime we are in SF. Its the best italian we've ever seen...more pasta selections then we know what to do with. The pizza is great (thin & crispy), and so is the calamari. My favorite is still the cheese ravioli-they're amazing. The staff is always nice, and sometimes there is a wait depending on the day. The new parking garage makes parking much easier. What can I say? Mona Lisa... read more

An end to the mixed reviews – My family and I couldn't decide whether to go to the Mona Lisa, due to the many mixed reviews here. However, we took a chance and had a great time. The decor is amazing -- amazingly tacky! it was hilarious. not good for a formal meal, but we thought it was great. We enjoyed the veal parmesan, veal marsala, lobster ravioli, and fettucine al pescadore (sp?). It's a little pricy, but we used two entertainment cards for four people and saved $30. In contrast to another reviewer, our water glasses we... read more

Great Restaurant – My boyfriend and I stopped at this restaurant for dinner, the service was great, the greater was extremely friendly. Food was so yummy, and the dessert menu is to die for. It has all the athentic Italy desserts on there. I definetly recommand this restaurant to everyone.

something changed? – I recall having a good time there a few years ago, nice food and good atomosphare. But last night food was not as good and surely not worth the price tag. Waiters were rude, and the music (really odd songs) was too loud. Did the ownership change or something?

Good people watching, bad food – Although the outdoor seating at the Mona Lisa is good for people watching on a sunny day, the food is mediocre at best. To their credit, the salad that I ordered was decent. However, I've had better pizza from Dominos. I should have known that we had made a bad choice to eat there when the basket of bread served to us made bread bought at Safeway seem like a more edible alternative. In short, there are far too many good restaurants in San Francisco to waste time and money at this place!

Not a good time – waiters were pushy and over-agressive-- we felt very uncomfortable the food was comparable to the olive garden-- it may have been cheap, but it was not at all authentic
