Very Disappointed – The ambience at Mona Lisa was great and romantic. Although, I found it a bit too dark. I could barely see the menu. My boyfriend ordered penne with gorgonzola while I ordered the papperdelle with salmon in cream sauce. His dish was absolutely disgusting. It tasted like cardboard! Mine was slightly better, but not by much. The food was bland and I definitely will not go back. It was NOT worth my money at all!

North Beach standby packs a tourist-heavy crowd in its kitschy dining room. – In Short Dozens of Mona Lisa prints--some classic, some kooky--adorn the walls, while dark furnishings and candlelit tables cast a slightly romantic atmosphere. The southern Italian menu is punctuated by a lengthy list of house-made pastas, such as the penne with eggplant and mushrooms and ravioli with capers and olives in a tomato-tuna sauce. Thin-crust pizzas, including a classic margherita, and traditional starters, like fried calamari and brusc... read more

A WARM face in North Beach – I was there with friends, about 10 of us and received great service.I always look for a place which serves good food, affordable and a place you can be with friends. Its definitly a loud place, but hey at times thats fun! The ambience is rustic with old memorabilias, which makes the experience rather interesting.

Expensive, Loud, and Bad Food – Mona Lisa is one of the loudest restaurants I have ever been to. It was so crowded and so loud that my party and I had to strain to hear each other, and yell when we spoke. The hostess seated us, and then forgot to bring our menus. We were subsequently forgotten through each step of the meal. We never received our drinks or our salads. They finally brought out the salads with our entree. The last straw was when they forgot to bring our check. We should have walked out, but we aren't that kind ... read more

beautiful camerieres – This is The Best Italian restaurant in the City. I have never had a bad dish there -and I've been going for at least 6 years! Last night I had the lasagna and it was perfect! My other favorite is the ravioli- all the pasta is made fresh so it can't be beat. It's a great neighborhood place - friendly service, makes you feel at home. If you don't like this place - you're out of your mind!

Fun place for Little Italy – As tourists here for the weekend we wanted a good S.F. Experience, but not a total tourist trap. The atmosphere inside is like an old NY Italian overly gaudy place, but that makes the experience for me. My "Veal Mona Lisa" was excellent and my wife's Veal Parmagiana was good, except for being cold and we sent it back for a reheat. Don't get the house Chianti, it was horrible.

Mona Lisa your food is over priced – Went to Mona Lisa for pizza which is the main thing on the menue and was disappointed, a friend said it was good but I guess by the time I got there it got bad. I went again to see if it was good and ordered the meat lasagne, it came and looked like it was a TV dinner with a pinkish red colored sauce. However, to my surprise with one taste it was delicious! Premade of course, but homemade premade, someone made it homemade and they kept it and reheated it, there is no other way to do lasag... read more

Definitely not a Margherita Pizza – Looked very cute and charming from the outside. It was nice to sit outdoors but the food was very blah. The margherita pizza was more like greek pizza. Super heavy on the cheese and a droplet of sauce. Definitely not margherita. Pasta was bland. Highly NOT recommended.

Lovely time in the city – My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to eat and happened to walk by the Mona Lisa. The Host at the door I believe his name is Maurizio was a riot. He convinced us to eat there and what a treat it was. The food was wonderful, the service was great and the decor was colorful. I would recommened anyone who comes from out of town or lives in the city as I do to frequent this place - it is well worth it!
