MET.LIFE LEGAL PLAN is an absolute scam. This is blatant fraud at its worst. Legal Definition: "The act of deceiving, usually to gain something of value, often money." As a longtime customer of MetLife, I was shocked and disappointed the first time I attempted to use their Legal service. I live in a part of north Florida, which has law schools and is overpopulated with lawyers. NONE of them were available through MetLife Legal. No one participates and no one is interested. Attorneys will only, briefly speak to you via a tele... read more

Do NOT waste your time or money. The only benefit this plan gave us when we needed to pursue legal action against a bad contractor was coverage of the legal consultation. Well, most attorneys these days provide free initial consultations, so what's the point? At the next opportunity, we will be removing this "benefit".

Business response:

Hi there. We're very sorry to hear you aren't satisfied with your legal plan. While we take great pride in covering some of the most common legal issues our members face, covered matters can vary from plan to plan and member to member. Our Client Service Center is always happy to review member coverage and clarify what legal matters the plan can help support. If you have questions or concerns, please give us a call at *************

Within a week of starting my Metlife membership so many things had gone wrong that I cancelled it. I had two things I wanted to do immediately—I wanted to set up a living trust and I wanted my name as it appeared on the deed to my home updated to reflect a change due to divorce. I had chosen a plan that I understood to cover both. Metlife’s plans only kick in on the first of the month, so I had to wait until May 1. Finally May 1 came and I was given a list of local attorneys that could do this. I called a three-attorney firm... read more

We are sorry for the experience you’ve had and about your frustrations with the effective date of your membership. However, timing of the effective date is determined by the enrollment firm which FEDVIP uses and not something we control. We understand you have canceled your legal plan coverage and appreciate your feedback. We hold attorneys within our network to a high standard and would like to look into your concerns further. Please reach out to our CSC at 800-821-6400 with the names of the attorneys and firms you contacte... read more

I spoke with a representative today, who informed me that my account was with my previous employer and I would have had to roll over by March 31 in order for my benefit to take affect immediately and today is April 2 I informed her that I have a open case since April 26 and that part of this delay is due to the lack of responsiveness from MetLife, she transferred me to Brian K*** who was misinformed had misinformation, and when I corrected it, he showed no interest in that he was very rude, abrasive and dismissive seemingly ... read more

Marketing for Individual MetLife plans were misleading. The representative marketed their product to me as a continuation of the services I had with a former employer. They walked me through the sign-up process via their online platform and made the process of enrollment quick and easy. However, once I needed the service I was made aware by an attorney and later on client services that the individual plans did not include actual representation, but 1-hour consultations only. This was a major let down and I felt an immediate ... read more

Business response:

Hi, ***. We're very sorry to hear about the experience you had with using your individual legal plan. Our standard individual plan provides coverage for common legal matters, such as demand letters, document review, and wills. For matters not covered under your plan, you can still obtain advice and consultations from network attorneys. Attorneys in our network undergo routine evaluation and must adhere to our Attorney Code of Excellence. If a member encounters an issue with a network attorney, a report helps our team investi... read more

I get metlife threw my job. I submitted my yearly health screening claims and I asked for them to be direct deposited. I submitted 8 claims, provided all banking info on each one separately. Someone decided to just mail me 3 checks and the rest EFT. I spoke with the supervisor and they informed me that they can see who did it. It's unexceptable. At this point metlife is unprofessional. Everyone is not trained properly. COVID behavior should be over. They need to retrain employees and stop just looking for bodies to fill a se... read more

I am paying for MetLife legal plans through my employer and it’s coming out of my paycheck every pay period. The only reason that I got the plan was because I have some family issues and I need attorney representation. I have called and talked to multiple people to see if they can help me find a lawyer to no avail. I even talked to someone on the legal panel? And spoke to Marc, who was not very nice. It’s very frustrating to have this plan and not find a single lawyer to help me, after all, what are they therefore and what a... read more

They should have a 0 star. Horrible. I had to go online to chat with someone about cancelling or closing out my account and then was told to wait 60 DAYS to repeat the process, to close out my account, while still being charged for those two months. Here’s what happened. I made the mistake of getting MetLife legal instead of MetLife dental. My tooth was hurting that bad. Called the same month to cancel and whoever I spoke with over the phone told me it was cancelled. 4 months later I was still being charged. I had to go to m... read more
