Nuttin Special – This is a normal diner with normal diner food. Nothing special, nothing outrageous, just every day diner food. The unique thing about Melrose is the sharing of tables with strangers. Basically I think the Melrose is over rated.
Everybody who knows goes to Melrose!! – The Melrose is great, especially there breakfasts after the bars close!! Try the apple Pie with vanilla sauce too!!
Just OK – The food is reasonably priced and is reasonably good. This is simply a reasonable diner. The servie is slow and unless you're from south philly or know the waitress, you'll get no attention.
I was in total shock – I couldn't beleve what I saw. I am a native Philadelphia and went on my first trip to Melrose Diner. Here again is an over rated DUMP. And boy what a DUMP it is. It was dark, beyond dengy and small. And the food was horrible. I couldn't eat it and I was pissed. The only thing I can say that was good is their butter cakes. I would suggest there butter cakes (IF YOU GET A SLICE TRYING NUKEING IT IN THE MICROWAVE FOR A FEW SECONDS MMMMMMMM WONDERFUL) If your not buying one of the cakes. STAY THE HECK AWAY... read more
The Great Impostor – Servings get smaller, prices getting higher. Local crowd loves it, but they can't see the forest for the trees.
can't beat it – forget the melrose dinner! try the coffee station in morton, pa. instead. it always in style!
cold food – I've always heard good things regarding the Melrose Diner. I've been there several times and with each visit I've always come up the same problem. COLD FOOD. When dining out and ordering hot food, that is the way I expect it to be presented to me.
If you know then you know it stinks! – Melrose diner sucks- you can't call in an order, you come in and stand there while the slowest waitress on the planet comes and takes your order, if she can spare the time in her gossip scedule. No credit cards. The portions are tiny as diner portions go - hell the Midtown IV in the middle of nowhere on Ranstead has bigger portions and way better food! The food at Melrose leaves a lot to be desired on all fronts, a sad little pool of goo called mashed potatos, breakfast they sort of get... read more
