Delicate Italian delights – Arrive early to avoid the wait (and noisy crowds) at this happening BYOB. Our hostess and server were wonderful, and quite helpful in choosing from the small but very tempting menu. Flavors are delicate and light, but quite exceptional. Portions are just right for enjoying an appetizer, entree and dessert. I definitely recommend the seafood stew (amazing flavors and plenty of fish) and the out-of-this-world chocolate souffle. Expect to spend about $100 for two for the full works, but it's definite... read more
Where are the tastebuds? – The 9.2 rating proves that Philadelphia diners have no taste buds. After waiting an hour - which was fine - my husband and I were given what I think were Amoroso rolls with a poor attempt at seasoned olive oil. The menu is beautiful (option-wise), and I thought we chose well. However, once the food came it was bland and they skimped on essential ingredients such as oh, um, GARLIC. Totally not worth the buzz. Try Trattoria Primadonna if you want a solid Italian meal in Center City.
Favorite BYO in Rittenhouse area – Love it! My boyfriend and I recently dined at Melograno and were very pleasantly surprised by how much we liked it. Our food was delicious (loved the portobello and goat cheese appetizer!), the atmosphere was great, and the wait wasn't nearly as bad as we expected (about half an hour on a rainy Sat.) for a weekend night. It's unquestionably our new favorite restaurant in the Rittenhouse area. We have told all our friends to go and can't wait to return ourselves.
Not bad, but not Great either – Being a new BYOB in Philly, we were anxious to try Melograno as we do all the new BYOB's. Although it was not disappointing, I was not overly impressed either. The four of us each had an appetizer, and an entre and we spilt two desserts, which we ready shared tastes of everything with each other and there was not one dish that anyone thought was a "wow". Although we ate everything and enjoyed everything and the service was good, there are several other new BYOB's like Radicchio and Matyson tha... read more
Yummy! – We had the most wonderful dinner on a Sunday at 6pm. The restaurant smelled so delicious - even from the street! Waited 5 minutes for a table, the hostess was so kind and friendly. Our waiter was fantastic, he was very knowledgeable on the ingredients of the entrees and appetizers. Food was prompt, hot and fabulous! Recommend trying all the specials! We had the rack of lamb and the fettucini with shrimp and crab. I have never tasted anything so divine in my entire life. We never lacked attention - water & wine const... read more
Friendly service 86'd at Melograno – The fish was fantastic, the tiramisu was delicious, but I still left Melograno with a bad taste in my mouth. Our waiter, who had been polite but cold throughout our meal, seemed to have no qualms about telling us we needed to leave five minutes after we had finished our meal--and two minutes after he had collected our 20% tip. By all means, try Melograno's food, enjoy its Audrey Claire-esque dining space, just don't get too comfortable; those tables need to be turned, you know.
Excellent food, slightly overpriced – One of the better Italian places in Center City. The homemade pasta is good and the seafood dishes ample and excellent. Unfortunately, for a BYO, the prices are a little high. The seating isn't overcrowded and the owner is very nice. The service was a bit inattentive and, at the end of our meal, a little pushy to get us out and the next party in. Overall, though, a good experience.
