Another McMenamins production, theThe Black Rabbit Restaurant & Bar is located within the Edgefield accommodations. Northwest American cuisine is the highlight of the menu, with some rather unique specialties such as the Wild Boar delicacy, the New York State with marsala sauce and pulled pork sliders. While fresh ingredients from the resident farm are used in the dishes, it would bode well to ask the server the daily specials and soups for some of their best offerings. To go alongside the traditional preparations, there are... read more

Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors – Distillery makes whiskeys, brandies and gins; spirits can be sampled and purchased at the adjacent bar.
LOVED IT! – My boyfriend recently took me to Edgefield at the end of a long weekend getaway. First, we spent 2 nights in downtown Portland at a major chain and paid nearly $150/night and all we got was a generic room and parking. Our 1 night at Edgefield far surpassed that experience in every way for less than $120 for the Hammerhead package. It included 2 meals, a king room w/ sitting area, beer and all the atmosphere we could absorb. No cookie-cutter rooms or experience here! The distillery was my favorite with freshly squ... read more
Beermans paradise – Iam originaly from Portland. I now live in Texas. When I visit the portland area,I always stop and have a Terminator Ale and a burger. Its a great place to relax and enjoy the sights. They also have some really neat glass works made on site. Have fun!
Hammerhead fan – I would highly recommend McMenamins Edgfield to anyone with an appetite for great beer, good food, and an inviting atmosphere. As far as lodging is concerned, if you are mature enough to appreciate the historic virtues of such a place, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. I don't know how one couldn't enjoy something so rich in simplicity. It's very relaxing NOT having phones ringing and televisions blaring, and there's so much on the grounds to absorb, enjoying the experience is a given. We loved the g... read more
Like Staying in a Dungeon? – This is what you get at McMenamin's for $90 a night: no TV, no toilet in your room, no shower in your room and no air conditioning. Basically, you there are no amenities...two of the longest days of my life were spent there for a friend's wedding...never again!
mysterious edgefield – A couple friends and i were walking down a hall one evening when the lights flickered and the hall went black. It became cold. We were each asking who turned off the lights to scare us. The lights suddenly turned back on and the chill seemed to evaporate. Downstairs people said the lights hadn't flickered at all. That is only my personal experience, but a friend of mine who works there has many more stories like that. great food, great service and a good time can be had there.
A hidden Gem outside of the City – Like I said in the tittle it is a Gem. You must see it for yourself. But be prepared to bring your walking shoes. Walking among the beauitful grounds is a must. Then seeing all of the out buldings i.e.(pub, Powerhouse Station.) Also it is roomy enough for large weddings.
Eclectic and Wonderful – I went to the Edgefield after hearing about it several times from a friend. It was wonderful. I paid extra for a room with a private bath and 2 half hour massages - and it was worth every penny. The wine tasting was fantastic, and breakfast was quite good. It was fun to explore the grounds and learn about the history of the property. The customer service was unmatched.
Edgefield – This is the best place to go. I got married here and it was unbelievable!
