"Smyrna Bakery" was opened in the late 1940's by Howard McEntyre Sr. in downtown Smyrna on Atlanta Road. The business was certainly a family affair as sons Howard Jr., Louis, and Wilson all worked in the bakery as well as Howard Sr.'s wife, Granny. After "Smyrna Bakery" closed in early 1954, Howard McEntyre Jr. opened the current "McEntyre's Bakery" in late 1959 which was also located on Atlanta Road in Smyrna just a few miles from the original store. Visited the Smyrna location twice for lunch in the past two weeks. Got panini's both times...turkey was better than ham. Didn't really care for potato salad, but chicken vegetable soup was delicious! Also bought some cheese straws that are really good:) I look forward to trying many other things. Everything looks so good. Pimento cheese is the best as is their chicken salad on their fresh baked croissants! Don’t even get me started on their cheese straws! I got all of these up At the lake Altoona store! So worth the drive to Smyrna!
My friends have been giving rave reviews on the chicken salad so stopped in the Cedarcrest store today to try some. Having ever tried it I only wanted a small container to try first. My purchase was rang up and it was as four dollars and change. Went to pay with my debit card and was denied because my purchase was less than $10. I never carry cash so sadly I won’t be trying yours chicken salad.
My birthday cake was delicious and fresh first time I used them but not the last thanks for making my 50th special!
We bought a yummy strawberry marble pound cake with cream cheese icing! So yummy! Can’t wait to order our next treat!
Soggy sandwich, bad service and rude manager,so sad!
