"Smyrna Bakery" was opened in the late 1940's by Howard McEntyre Sr. in downtown Smyrna on Atlanta Road. The business was certainly a family affair as sons Howard Jr., Louis, and Wilson all worked in the bakery as well as Howard Sr.'s wife, Granny. After "Smyrna Bakery" closed in early 1954, Howard McEntyre Jr. opened the current "McEntyre's Bakery" in late 1959 which was also located on Atlanta Road in Smyrna just a few miles from the original store. I buy cakes and pies by the dozen every holiday season and share them with friends, family, and coworkers around the south! Every one loves y'all's goods...for myself, the cheese straws are amazing!
We order a strawberry dream cake for our daughter's birthday dinner and it was AWESOME!!! You have a repeat customer!!
Very disappointed, yet again. I noticed a picture of cake that had superheroes on it and yet I was told I couldn’t not have that (this past September.) So I had to decorate the cake myself. Then - you take the photo down and comment- but delete it so I can’t see. Not the professionalism I was accustomed to. Sad to see this from a once great company. This bakery has made both of my wedding cakes. They were the best cakes we have ever had! The pound cake is a perfect choice for your wedding cake! I had a beautiful tiered cake and my husband had the best looking steelers football field cake. We saved the top of our cake and ate it a year later it tasted just as amazing as the night of! We love this bakery and the people there!
I have always loved this place, even from 15 years ago when it was in the old building. Very disappointed in the service and taste of there lunches.... Workers seem to be busy with there conversations to help, pasta salad I ordered had no taste, and my pimento cheese cresant was soggy. Ew. I remember this place being wonderful....sad to see
Not only do they have THE BEST chicken pot pie, but this sweet bakery helped me announce my pregnancy to my co-workers in the cutest way possible! They were so helpful and the customer service was outstanding. My coworkers loved the pastries and McEntyre's has a loyal customer for life (make that 2)!
Terribly disappointed in the cake I got over the weekend. That was the the most dry cake I have ever had in my life. This was something I thought I would get from Kroger or Publix but a Publix cake is way better than what I got. It’s really disappointing because I tell people about this place a lot. We used to get a cake from here every month when I worked at Allstate and the cakes won me over. Not sure if I should have gotten a different flavor or what but the ball was dropped.
