"Smyrna Bakery" was opened in the late 1940's by Howard McEntyre Sr. in downtown Smyrna on Atlanta Road. The business was certainly a family affair as sons Howard Jr., Louis, and Wilson all worked in the bakery as well as Howard Sr.'s wife, Granny. After "Smyrna Bakery" closed in early 1954, Howard McEntyre Jr. opened the current "McEntyre's Bakery" in late 1959 which was also located on Atlanta Road in Smyrna just a few miles from the original store. Susie Poss and I had lunch with y'all Wednesday afternoon. The staff was very professional and kind, recommending the Chicken-BLT salad. Both of us ordered the salad which was huge, delicious and very filling...Thank you McEntyre's!!!
Stopped at the Crossrsods location and purchased a German Chocolate cake. This is not the same cake Mrs. McEntyre used to make.. It was basically a devils food cake with coconut pecan frosting..still tasty but nothing like I remember.
I've been a customer for almost 19 years. Usually everything is consistently great. I was SOOO disappointed yesterday with cupcakes and two slices of cakes. Everything was overwhelmingly flavored with almond flavor!! Awful and and a waste.
My 1st experience with your bakery. I've heard nothing but good things. I just called to get a quote on a custom cake and the person who answered the phone was less than helpful told me basically that I could not have a cake and in general gave me just really poor customer service. Did offer any other suggestions did seem to care about me as a customer. Guess my daughter's birthday will not have one of your cakes.
Ordered a carrot cake for a guy at work as a farewell gift. With only a days notice they were able to make a yummy pretty carrot cake exactly as I requested. Prices pretty great and very good taste. Only recommendation is to fix the price sheet online it was less expensive than what it said online :)
Best desserts, chicken salad, pimento cheese, buffalo chicken sandwich! Everything is the BEST! You'll love every bite! The service is A+++
