"Smyrna Bakery" was opened in the late 1940's by Howard McEntyre Sr. in downtown Smyrna on Atlanta Road. The business was certainly a family affair as sons Howard Jr., Louis, and Wilson all worked in the bakery as well as Howard Sr.'s wife, Granny. After "Smyrna Bakery" closed in early 1954, Howard McEntyre Jr. opened the current "McEntyre's Bakery" in late 1959 which was also located on Atlanta Road in Smyrna just a few miles from the original store. Dry, tasteless cake and overpowering frosting. Both strawberry cake and peanut butter bars went in the trash. I've made much better from a mix. Decorator does a good job though.
We have been loyal patrons for about 30 years. They have the best tasting buttercream frosting on their cakes! Pretty decorations & moist yellow cake. They will make to order just about anything. They are a tradition for all holidays. We love the cheese straws, petit fours, chocolates pie & giant sugar cookies that my grand-daughters love!!!! Thank you for being a real bakery, instead of leaving us to so many retail stores that basically use Crisco to frost their previously frozen cakes. We are fans for life!!!
I have had amazing things from your bakery that others have purchased. I spoke to someone on Friday from your bakery saying I was going to come on Monday to order some valentines cookies for my daughters class and that I lived out in paulding. Well, I drove all the way to you yesterday, way out of the way, first time, first experience, and y'all were closed. Would have been nice to know from the woman I spoke with when I told her I was coming Monday that you all would have been closed!!
My family had been getting cakes and baked goods from McEntyre's for years so when it came time to order our wedding and groom's cake, we headed straignt to McEntrye's. Both cakes were exactly what we wanted and tasted wonderful. We had no cake left because people went back for seconds. It was that good! Highly recommend!
Love this bakery! Made both of my daughter's wedding and groom's cakes and they were wonderful. Now my two-year old grandson loves this bakery and we visit every Friday after preschool to get him lunch and a smiley-face cookie!
Best bakery in town! Fried pies and donuts are amazing! Homemade pimento cheese and chicken salad are delicious!

Just posted this on my page...I realize that it's Wednesday already, and I really should have given a shout out Sunday to McEntyre's Bakery in Smyrna for an amazing cake and cupcake array for Lalyn Oliver Oli's Sweet 16 party. Over the past 10 years they have done cakes and petite fours, and now cupcakes, for 2 of my 4 grand children's baby showers and now this. I CANNOT say enough wonderful things about them. Generally speaking, a panini is supposed to be cooked on some type of press/grill. Got one today (picked up by someone else) that was not only not pressed or cooked, it was missing the honey mustard. Despite that, the sandwich still tasted good (once I added my own honey mustard)...it just isn't what was ordered.
Yummy! The Chicken Salad is amazing and i also Love the Pimento Cheese spread..delicious. And don't get me started on the sweet stuff lol.. I have sister and a friend that work here. Awesome!
