An old marquee bearing the familiar name hangs over the corner and shows the way to this long-standing Jackson favorite. Guarded by a pair of grumpy Greek brothers, the requisite long counter with its vinyl spinning stools make this greasy spoon as authentic as they come. Grab your own spoon to ladle generous portions of pork, beef and chicken bathed in thick Southern gravy. Open late by Jackson standards, this is a great choice for those whose business keeps them downtown until late evening.

I had the redfish Jane that was recommended to me by our server. It was great and so was the service.
The food was everything we hoped it would be after reading all the wonderful reviews on multiple sites!!! Homemade and delicious!!! Our server Kara really was the icing on the cake, very knowledgeable about the menu and so nice to us it really pushed the experience over the top!!! I will be back every trip to Jackson!!!
We asked the visitor center for a good place to have lunch with "local food". 2 at the center immediately said Mayflower. We were not disappointed. A chalk menu of the fresh fish plates of the day, daily specials on the menu, and wait staff able to explain what each item was like. Great service, affordable prices, fresh and tasty local cuisine. This is a place where the regulars are spoken to by name. What more needs to be said!
What a classic place, with hospitality straight out of the 1950's. Great food, great location!
Great shrimp pasta. Friendly waitress on a very busy night
Place has some of the best food I've ever ate. Awesome place and good service
Friendly hostess , that's about all I have. We were referred there from the hotel. The fish was no good , my wife had shells in her pasta. Louisiana gas stations have better fish but on another note. It's very hard to impress someone from Louisiana with seafood. To each their own.
My family and I were very impressed after eating here! When you first see the place you would NEVER think the food and service would be so amazing! Very friendly atmosphere. The Comeback sauce they have is absolutely terrific. It was sooo good we bought a bottle before we left. Food is a little pricey, but definitely worth every penny! We will be back soon! If you have never eaten here you should definitely give this place a shot! Don't judge by the building because it has been around for years!
