An old marquee bearing the familiar name hangs over the corner and shows the way to this long-standing Jackson favorite. Guarded by a pair of grumpy Greek brothers, the requisite long counter with its vinyl spinning stools make this greasy spoon as authentic as they come. Grab your own spoon to ladle generous portions of pork, beef and chicken bathed in thick Southern gravy. Open late by Jackson standards, this is a great choice for those whose business keeps them downtown until late evening.

nice blast from the the past. good food. reminded me of Runts cafe in Gadsden Alabama
I usually love their food. However tonight we were treated so badly, I may never go back. They took my name, said it was a 20 minute wait. 35 minutes later, I checked. They had marked my name off. Jerry, the owner, said he called my name & nobody answered. What a jerk! He must’ve whispered it out the door. When it’s that packed, you need to freaking speak up & make sure your customer hears you!! I was so mad, we left & went to The Elite.
I ordered the seafood platter and my husband got chicken fettuccine. As a native Floridian I should have thought about ordering "fresh" seafood from a town that is hours from the gulf. Let's just say the shrimp was overcooked and went back to them in a napkin, they gave me a fish tail that was just bones, another fish that was obviously previously frozen and a very bland stuffed crab. The oyster was good but not broiled as i had ordered. My husband's chicken Alfredo was good but not worth $20. We were just passing thru Jacks... read more
Excellent food to match the excellent service from Brandi. Well worth the money as usual.
I was in Jackson on a work trip and stopped here my first night for dessert. I ordered the bread pudding. I LOVE a good bread pudding and they have the best! My last day in town, I had lunch there. Fried chicken, turnip green, mac and cheese, roll and cornbread. It was all so darn good! Those turnip greens were spot on! Of course I had bread pudding for dessert. I may have to drive 6 hours from Arkansas just to have lunch here again!
This is my favorite restaurant and always where I want to go for a special occasion! The Scallops and Soft Shell Crab are my favorites! They have the very best Come Back dressing!
