Wait staff gotcha down? – For the first people in the door I would expect a little service. Instead our waitress disappeared. We finally got her to take our order and we were served. Food was tasty minus she forgot one of the rolls we ordered. After waiting an additonal 15min she finally asked how we were doing. After telling her we were still waiting on our last Roll she just said "Oh, did you order that.. well do you want to wait for it?" which at that point we did not. If you can get around the service, a nice place for s... read more

Where Fish go when they Die (Sushi Heaven) – I have tried every major, and most minor, sushi/japanese resturants in the Seattle/Bellevue area, and nothing really compets with Mashiko's on all levels. The fish is extremely good quantity and quality. The atmoshpere is much more relaxed and comfortable than most. I would go everday if I could afford it, but it's a much better deal than any other Sushi place. They rotate the artwork, which is refreshing for this genre of resturant. After going there once it's been my go-to-place... read more

Mashiko is Sushi Heaven – This is the best sushi I have ever had! The fish is always fresh and the Albacore literally melts in your mouth and the service is friendly and warm. Tuna on Snow Shoes and Tiger Eye are great to start with and leave you wanting more. I think I have pretty much worked my way through the menu and have never been disappointed. On a first visit if you can't decide then go for the Omakase and let Hajime surprise you with his choice of not sushi, but lots of creative dishes.

Mediocre at best – We had high hopes for Mashiko based on rave reviews of their sushi. We were prepared to have a great sushi experience here. The sushi was okay--definately not the best we have had--and tiny portions. TINY. Sushi doesn't have to be big to be good, but it should at least be good. The rice isn't sticky, the fish wasn't fresh and the miso tasted weird. The tempura was translucent, greasy, and arrived after our sushi. Service was terrible. The table was sticky. I don't think any more need be said. Someone, plea... read more

Mashiko, hidden treasure – I've been to numerous sushi restaurants in the Seattle area. I was surprised to find my now favorite one tucked away in West Seattle's Junction neighborhood. The ambience is a bit wild and irreverant (you'll be on internet wide candid camera if you sit at the sushi bar and the art is definitely NOT traditional Japanese), but the food puts it at the top in my book. Their nigiri and traditional Japanese fair equals the very best and their exotic and creative sushi rolls far surpass anything else in t... read more

Great, if not pretentious – unlike Wasabi Bistro, the sushi-snobs here are on the other side of the counter instead of yours. I always feel looked down upon when I go here by the wait staff, but even moreso by the sushi chefs. BUT- the sushi is fresh and fantastic, and they will not skimp on the portions. (which is nice since this place is a bit more expensive than normal for the fare) The unagi generally spreads the distance of a small plate and is sweet and tangy and perfect. The chefs know what their doing- and they know ... read more

Quite Possibly the Best Sushi EVER!! – Fabulous and Splendid and Delicious and Superb! The food is really quite sublime at Mashiko's and I am so thankful we have found it as our fallback place that never fails to please. The sushi is fresh, beautifully presented and always wonderful to eat. Omakase is the most amazing value and you always receive a little surprise on your plate, especially if you talke to the wait staff about your likes and dislikes. Chef Hajime will make sure that you have something you have never tried bef... read more

Poor service – If you enjoy average japanese food that has been doctored up and over priced then this is the place for you. If you enjoy rude staff then this is the place for you. I have given this place a couple of chances, living in west seattle and not wanting to go to the I.D. for food. Everytime i have gone there they have been consistent......consistently rude, consistently messed up my order and consistently slow service. I do not recommend this place.

I love Mashiko! – I love the sushi at Mashiko. It's fresh, delicious - and the chef is a creative genius! I usually like to try new restaurants all the time, but for sushi I will stick with Mashiko. It's so good I crave it all the time!
