Gen-Xer's play sushi chef in West Seattle, with winning results. – The Scene Chef Mashiko enlists college kids to turn out surprisingly well-executed, colorful sushi to Gap-clad regulars. A tad larger than intimate, tables are set close enough to share food with neighbors. One look at the bleached, minimalist decor will have you mentally paging through an Ikea catalog. Service is always courteous. The Food The Tiger Eye is a great starter--raw tuna wrapped tightly around fresh salmon roe, then deep-fried. Diners who vow to "... read more

LOVE IT! – Best sushi in West Seattle. Helpful servers if you aren't an expert or if it is your first time. Loved the flash fried tuna. Small, so you may need to wait a little but it is fully worth it.

I've tried them all and in Seattle this is very close to perfect. – You simply must try Omakase "Up to the Chef" - with two of the three sushi-chefs it's brilliant, and with the third, the owner, it's simply unimprovable. Worth waiting to sit at the sushi bar. PS Hey Citysearch...that photo needs updating - the vibe is much warmer now with darker colors and dimmer lights.

Sushi made fun – I have taken guests from ages 16-86 to Mashiko and even the sushi novices enjoyed themselves. This is the most creative Japanese menu I have seen. There is a wide variety of raw, cooked, and vegetarian items and all are clearly marked as such. For a special treat order one of the chef created meals. Your palate will thank you.

Amazing sushi – Best I've had and I like to try all my friends favorites but none stack up. I like to sit at the bar cause the chefs know when you are ready for your next dish and it moves along more quickly. But if you're not in a hurry a table is great too. They've gotten busier lately on the weekdays but haven't adjusted with staff so be prepared for a little bit more of a wait but it's well worth it!

Great Sushi – Really great place to get Sushi, may be a bit too trendy for some. Waiters were always friendly and helpful. Service is really good too. You may have to wait awhile to be seated.

Mashiko is the best! – ashiko is the best sushi place in all of Seattle. I have tried so many other places with recommendation from supposedly experience sushi eaters and nothing comes close to Mashikos! They always have extensive fresh/special list which most other sushi place dont have. Try the Omakase (Chef choice) is the best deal if you really want to try a lot of the items and experience creative sushi. Im wondering when the last time the Editorial Profiler with city search has been updated. Mashiko is painted a dark r... read more

Happy Happy Hour – A great sake selection and a fantastic happy hour menu made my first visit to Mashiko a memorable experience. A small, intimate location, a few large groups made the restaurant somewhat loud on a Friday night. The chefs were creative with their specials and the decor was fabu. I can't wait to go back. Too bad they no longer have their friday-night happy hour
