Best Sushi in town – There have been a few times when the service was less than supurb but the last five times I've been that hasn't been the case. They do tend to get pretty busy but overall the staff is very friendly. As far as the sushi goes, I have yet to find a better selection or fresher sushi. You must try the Dragon roll and the Boller Roller- by far the best choices on the menu oh and the Albacore Sashimi- YUM YUM!

FANTASTIC! – We have been going to Mashiko for several years and every time has been fabulous. Several days later we are still commenting on how great the food was. I highly recommend sitting at the bar. After a few times the chefs will get to know what you like and can make recommendations. You can now make bar reservations on Fridays and Saturdays, which is wonderful -- sometimes the wait could be fairly long. The ingredients are always top notch, unlike the sushi place up the street that serves imitation crab (yuck!) As f... read more

Ho-Jam-Ay. – Ho-Jam-Ay (chef and owner of mashiko) is a native of the island country of Japan. A small country in the ocean, now home to upwards of 3,000 japanese peoples. He is very doscile (for the most part) and is good around children. The food at Mashiko is as nice to look at as it is too eat. I highly recommnd this west seattle jem.

Crappiest Service and Attitude in Seattle – I tried several times, but cannot forgive the arrogance, attitude problem, high prices and slow unresponsive service. I took the parents and wife for a celebration of a major event and we were treated like garbage: had a reservation but took 30 minutes to seat us; no food on the table for 35 minutes after we were sat; then small portions arrived at the table every 15 minutes. Each of us got one bite, then we sat there hungry for 15 minutes. The check was over $300 for "Chef's Choic... read more

least helpful owner – I recently went and for the first time ate at the sushi bar here. Yes there was a "specials" board. I asked for help with recommendations. I have a vision disability so could not see the board. The comment that the owner/sushi maker came back with was that he had a board of recommendations and wouldn't have put them on the board if he didn't recommend it. I have never believed someone could be so rude. The sushi is ok, however, why would you want to be treated like that?

Great sushi, really bad service. – It didn't take long to be seated, but it did take about 15 minutes to get our drink orders taken. One member of our party wanted hot saki, but was it was brought cold. I had ordered miso soup with the meal, which was never brought, even though the waiter said he was sorry that he didn't bring it previously, and did I want it now (yes, I did). Then he never brought it. So I paid for a miso and never received it. He was also asked if we could have a specific roll in a bento box, and when we w... read more

Best Sushi in Seattle – I eat Sushi twice a week and go to many different restaurants. Mashiko's has got to be the best sushi in Seattle. Not just becuase I live in West Seattle, but the rolls are unique and super fresh. The restaurant is small, hip, and fun. The staff is amazingly knowledgeable about everything from the fish to the sake. You should go with the mind set that you may have a small wait and cozy seating, but it is part of the charm and well worth it.

Superb Rolls in an Intimate Setting – Mashiko's is my choice for landmark quality rolls in Seattle. This place made sushi my favorite food. The whole menu is inventive. Make sure to try the grilled Hamachi cheek, if available. The rolls are a true reflection of Saito: new age, and unconventional. If this is your first time having sushi, or if you are a sushi-worshipper, this is the place to go to get your fix.
