Good food, awful service – Seated promptly, took 30+ minutes to order (be right back, be right back...) after others that came in after us. Took 40 more minutes to get 4/5ths of our order to the table. Got our last roll after we were completely done with everything else. Waitstaff argued with me about the whole mess. Not going back.
Try new things!! – This is the best sushi place in Seattle to try new things (and by far my overall favorite). The young staff are entertaining but extremely wise when it comes to sushi. The Sushi menu is enormous, with page after page of nigiri and rolls you've never tried. The freshness and skilled prepartion are unmatched. -reasonably priced too.
Best Sushi in Seattle. – I don't know what that one person was talking about - Mashiko is Fabulous food, and the service is always fast, friendly, and fantastic. I highly recommend getting the omakase, the chefs all prepare interesting and unusual dishes that absolutely delight the eye and palette.
Bad Service! – We sat at the counter and the Miso soup was accidentally spilled in my boyfriend's lap by the female sushi chef. She threw a bar rag to us, said sorry, and that was it. So with a lap full of soup and soup-stained pants, we finished our $65 meal for two. You would have thought we got an offer to pay for the cleaning of his slacks, or one dish "comped"--but nothing! We'll never be back, as that is not how you treat customers.
Best sushi in Seattle, bar none. – With its recent menu overhaul, which saw the addition of several inventive new dishes and upgrades to basic items like miso soup and wasabi (they serve only fresh wasabi now, not the reconstituted paste most people are used to), Mashiko has put even more distance between itself and the nearest competitor. This is quite probably the very best sushi in the city. The restaurant is almost always busy, so arrive early (six p.m. or so) to avoid waiting in line. And bring an appetite, as the porti... read more
sushi pretty good but... – I like the sushi (especially the albacore nigiri) but their attempts to fancy up a few basic things like miso soup and wasabi is backfiring. Their fancy miso soup is just bad - I'd rather have the instant stuff from Safeway and add a little tofu. Their wasabi is actually some whacky blend they've concocted and ruins every thing I like to put wasabi on (which is pretty much everything). Just serve regular wasabi and a basic miso soup please.
Best Spicy Tuna Roll in the City – Bar none! I've been to Toyada, I Love Sushi, Shiro's, and Nishino, which are "arguably" the best places in Seattle, and Mashiko proves time and again to be clearly head and shoulders above them in A. portions, B. Freshness C. Product. Only place I know of in Seattle that has real, fresh Wasabi and quite simply, with out a doubt the best Spicy Tuna Roll in Seattle. And only $6...Mashiko's truly rocks. You will not be dissapointed!
