Bad food, Bad service – I lived in Japan for 2 years & know good Japanese food, particularly sushi & sashimi. This is probably the worst I've ever encountered in the US. The fish tasted old & the sushi was definitely not prepared by a master chef. When I politely complained to Hajime, the owner, I was met with such a barrage of hostility, I was stunned. He told me that if I didn't like the food, there were plenty of other sushi restaurants. Having lived in Japan, I have many Japanese friends & they has consistently been grac... read more

The Tempura Should Come with a Side of Clearasil – My wife & I love trying new restaurants and have passed Mashiko's many times. Tonight we decided to try it....and we'll never go back. We were curious there was no menu in the window, but then we found out why. Talk about sticker shock! $25 for a Bento??? $13 dollars for a tuna roll? WOW! And a bowl of rice costs extra???? At these prices are you kidding me???!! Well, my wife was ready to walk but I convinced her to give it a try, at these prices the food must be very specia... read more

Japanese Food "NOT" – My husband & I love Japanese food, but this place is not Japanese food. My husband orderd Tempura & I ordered the Bento Box like we do at several Japanese restaurants we go too. Tempura was "VERY GREASY" & the only thing I enjoyed here was the green tea. It's overpriced for what you order & we both left feeling hungry still. The fish dishes in the Bento box tasted funny & I left 3/4's of the meal because it was so bad. We won't tell our family or friends to try this place and we won't be back.

Snobby, Lame service – I tried to order at Mashiko a year ago, heard it was good, thought I'd give it a try. Couldn't get past the hostess. She said I couldn't order to go because they were too busy. Looked around and there were 4 tables open. I said seriously?...and walked out. Vowed never to return. Called the next day to explain to a manager and met the same attitude from the manager. Fast forward to June 27th 2010. Thought I'd try again, couldn't happen twice and didn't want to hold a grudge right? What do you think happ... read more

Seems to be everyone's favorite – Its the website that catches my eye and makes me want to dine here, who wouldn't want to try a place called sushi whore, although trying to remember the real name is often difficult. It seems to be a favorite of west seattlies as everyone I know is always suggesting events here. Its good for a group event, but prices can add up fast making this an expensive night out where you might not be very full. There is something on the menu for everyone even for people who don't like sushi or seaweed ... read more

Not sure what the problem is, Mashiko is perfect – It's interesting how I read that folks have had a horrible time with the wait staff but each and everytime we go to Mashiko, they've always been courteous and professional. The food is superb and the chefs are always ready for a challenge and offer up some very tasy dishes. I love the seasonal selections and just have whatever the sushi chef has in mind. I've been to lots of sushi restaurants, here and around the country, and this is one of the best I've been to.

Wouldn't even take my order??! – I thought i'd give these guys a try as their reviews & website looked pretty impressive. I'm on bedrest with a newborn so I order take-out for my fiance to pick up for us. I put my order together off their on-line menu figuring it's out there as a means to order take-out. But, when I called it in, they wouldn't even take my order, saying they were too busy. So, I went to Azuma down the street--again--where they happily took my order with a short wait of only 20 minutes. Last time I stray.

Rude Staff – The sushi might be good but we could never get past the waitstaff's terrible attitude. They try overly hard to be cutesy and hip and fall flat on their face. Never again.

YUM! – I went here for the first time this past weekend as a change of pace from my regular sushi place, and I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious everything was. My eyes lit up as I ate the Albacore Nigiri, which is the best I've had anywhere in Seattle. We tried a few other pieces of nigiri and ordered two rolls, all of which were delicious. The sake menu was impressive as well, with an entire page devoted to sake! There were easily over 20 different types of sake to try. I will definitely be adding this place to my ... read more
