A Georgetown fixture since the early 1930s, Martin's Tavern leans decisively towards the historical - rather than the trendy - aspect of this neighborhood. The former New York Giants baseball player William G. Martin opened this neighborhood pub in 1933. Today his grandson, Billy Martin runs the family business. Dark wood paneling and touches of hunter green make for an attractive interior. The menu features American and continental classics - steak and seafood as well as pasta served with marinara or alfredo sauces.

Crab cakes are to die for. A little pricey but you get a lot of food. Great atmosphere. Great staff
I go every single year I'm in Washington. The staff, atmosphere, and history are amazing. Must go! Crab Cakes are right up there with The Capitol Grill.

Thank you Amy! Appreciate the compliment too!
5 Star Service and Fun!! Alexandro and Rob were by far the best professional bar team I've seen ...... possibly ever seen. The food was crafted with love from clean bright oysters they served to the perfectly seared ahi tuna dusted in sesame.....spectacular!Thank you for a most memorable evening, Janine and Ted - see you soon!
Business response:
Thank you Janine! Those two ARE THE BEST! We appreciate your review and all of us look forward to taking care of you soon!
The clam chowder was not as good as I remember it. I think 12.00 for a bowl of soup is too expensive, especially without sour dough or French bread. It was disappointing.
Business response:
Hello Viola, this is Billy Martin and you should have received oyster crackers and our really good baguettes with butter with your chowder. Please let me know exactly when you were in, whether you sat at the bar or a table. And if possible the servers name. I just did a photo shoot with our clam chowder. It was not known ahead of time that this photographer was coming. I ate the chowder after the shoot and it was very good. So I apologize that it may not have been as good yesterday. I hope you would come back and try it agai... read more
