Marine Mammal Care Center

4.9

About this business

This complex is a fine alternative to ocean-themed parks like San Diego's Sea World. Here, you can view sick or injured seals and sea lions rehabilitating in preparation for their return to the ocean. The center, run by two full-time staff members and a number of volunteers, caters primarily to California Sea Lions, Northern Elephant Seals, Northern Fur Seals and Harbor Seals. The center also has a gift shop and exhibits with materials intended to educate the public about marine mammals. Admission is free.

I have been volunteering at the Long Beach Marine Institute since I was nine years old. Their summer program Ocean Adventure Camp goes on field trips to the Marine Mammal Care Center every year. It is a fun and exciting field trip, even though the animals are sick or injured you leave the center knowing they are getting the treatment they need and deserve! I can’t imagine what would happen to the animals if the center wasn’t open, so please visit and support the Marine Mammal Care Center, they are doing some amazing work!

A very clean and interesting place that truly help the marine animal and release them back to the Mother Nature. Love this place!
