I had 2 emergency surgeries and the first one was at Memorial Health Hospital. They should have closed me up once they realized what my diagnosis was and transferred me to a facility with higher level of care. The Dr. even said it was beyond her skill level. That isn't the real point of my frustration. I of course have several bills and have been paying off my balance of just over $2K faithfully every month in $50 payments. Because I am not able to pay it off in 4 months they are sending it to collections. We do not qualify ... read more

The nurses are great, but to keep my 78 yr old mom waiting for almost 5 hours for a room after drawing a liter a fluid from pressuring her lungs due to cancer seems unconscionable. She arrived at North Memorial at approximately 9:30 am, was finished with tests and draining before 4:00. When I called at 7:00 they were "cleaning her room. She was then kept waiting until 8:45pm before finally moving her in. Is this how the system treats an exhausted elderly cancer patient? RecommendedKind, caring, professional staff who treat patients with respect. I just had surgery there and was impressed with everyone from the lady at the information desk to the OR staff and the staff on the floor. My needs were met promptly. Not one person left my room without saying "is there anything else I can do for you?" The facility is comfortable, clean, bright and cheery. Highly recommend this hospital.
