What used to be an old pineapple cannery is now Mala, the epitome of global organic fusion cuisine. It's not as complicated as it sounds. Chef Mark Ellman has his concepts straight: keep everything fresh, quantities adequate, use organic ingredients as much as possible and use no hydrogenated oils or preservatives. If I could give this place zero stars I would. The food is way overpriced for the very small portions that you get. Being a person who has dined there previously I feel like they are going downhill. The spicy pita appetizer was just 2 small meatballs cut in half they were over cooked completely charred on the outside and dry on the inside. We certainly always pack our togo food carefully. As for the $4.50 togo charge, that is what uber eats charges the customer, we don't have any control over that. If you pick your food up directly with us we do charge $1.50 for the togo order since we spend a lot of money on boxes, cutlery, ramekins, napkins, chopsticks, etc. This charge allows us to provide ou... read more
