What used to be an old pineapple cannery is now Mala, the epitome of global organic fusion cuisine. It's not as complicated as it sounds. Chef Mark Ellman has his concepts straight: keep everything fresh, quantities adequate, use organic ingredients as much as possible and use no hydrogenated oils or preservatives. RecommendedWe stopped at Mala Ocean Tavern for a quick brunch on the way to the airport. The Ahi Benedict was amazing and you cannot beat basically sitting on the ocean complete with splash! Watching crabs on the Rocks was cool too 🦀
Food was phenomenal. I don’t eat fish but I trusted our waitress, Rachel, who suggested Ono in the Balinese stir fry and it was delicious. I also tried the Ahi bruschetta which was equally amazing. The outside terrace offers picturesque water views and of Lanai and Molokai.

What a wonderful spot, great food and wonderful staff.. highly recommend the calamari, oyster shots, lamb & ahi tartare. We got there for an early 5pm dinner (no booking) then sat on the benches outside to watch the sunset! Perfect night!

my husband and I came for breakfast, you were recommended by Mario. I had the shrimp,spinach with mozzarella, hollandaise sauce omelet. It was the best omelet I ever had. we came back for dinner tonight. I had your chicken tonight. sooo great. I can't wait to return for another meal. The people that work there are so friendly and love their job. Rich was our waiter, he took the time to talk about each item on the menu. Wait until you see the view, beautiful! Thank you so much!
