What used to be an old pineapple cannery is now Mala, the epitome of global organic fusion cuisine. It's not as complicated as it sounds. Chef Mark Ellman has his concepts straight: keep everything fresh, quantities adequate, use organic ingredients as much as possible and use no hydrogenated oils or preservatives. Service, care, food, view, ambiance .... from little things (we didn't like the table we were given so instantly we were told a better one was opening up....5 minutes in the bar and we were seated at a four top right on the waterfront)....and later when I realized I had no cash for the valet tip, same waiter just handed me a $5 bill, no questions asked. Attention better than food (which was awful ) and expensive i would rather eat a burger and fries, good view though
My friends and I had drinks and shared the fish wrap, the fish sandwich and calimari! Everything was delicious, beautifully presented and fairly priced. We will definitely be back!
The owner was there, hands on,engaging and so fun to meet! Food was great, sunsets are amazing! GO! Check it out! Kind of a “cheers” vibe on the island, so fun!
