In 1959, Victoria Crandall founded the Brunswick Summer Playhouse as a commercial venture in order to present and preserve the best of musical theatre. In 1967, the name was changed to the Brunswick Music Theatre. In 1978, BMT became a not-for-profit theatre. In 1988, the organization officially became Maine State Music Theatre.

The shows are always awesome. My mom and I have had season tickets for atleast 10 years. Last night at Grease it was too hot in the theatre. It felt to me that it was cooler outside than inside. Show was awesome!
This is absolutely the best theatre in Maine! There are no bad seats and the acoustics are wonderful with the orchestra under the stage.

I went as a gift from my two nieces; Kim and Val. It's a very nice theatre and was always have great seats. Grease was so, so good. The cast kept their energy through the whole show and they we all unbelievable. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. I give it a 5 star rating.
First time there and loved it! Great place and Grease was amazing . Can't wait to go back.
