Specialties Bringing Broadway-caliber musical theater performances to Mid Coast Maine. History Established in 1959. In 1959, Victoria Crandall founded the Brunswick Summer Playhouse as a commercial venture in order to present and preserve the best of musical theatre. In 1967, the name was changed to the Brunswick Music Theatre. In 1978, BMT became a not-for-profit theatre. In 1988, the organization officially became Maine State Music Theatre.

I saw Always Patsy Cline and while I was impressed, I was not surprised that they could find a few actors who could sing for that performance. Newsies was a different story. I did not think that the performance would be able to rival what I have seen on Broadway or at Broadway Across America performances. I was wrong. The quality of all of the actors and dancers was astounding. I was amazed that I was seeing a Broadway quality performance in Brunswick Maine. I can't wait for next season!
I love going there and have had seasons tickets for about 25 years. My only complaint - IT IS TOO HOT IN THERE! Turn on the air conditioning and make it comfortable! People bring sweaters and jackets expecting it. I love all the shows but it would be nice to watch them without sweat running down my neck.

I'm from GA and go to MSMT almost every summer. I've never seen a bad production. I LOVED Newsies. I saw it on Broadway and looked forward to seeing it again. The dancers were fabulous and the leads were perfect. A great show!
Previews of Disney's "Newsies" srarted today 2:00pm and 7:30pm. Looking forward to seeing the show this weekend!
It isn't our first time attending a show at MSMT and Grease did not disappoint. I want to bring more friends to the newly added matinee show. Love, love!
