About this business
Specialties Bringing Broadway-caliber musical theater performances to Mid Coast Maine. History Established in 1959. In 1959, Victoria Crandall founded the Brunswick Summer Playhouse as a commercial venture in order to present and preserve the best of musical theatre. In 1967, the name was changed to the Brunswick Music Theatre. In 1978, BMT became a not-for-profit theatre. In 1988, the organization officially became Maine State Music Theatre.

RecommendedI have been a season ticket holder for a number of years now at Maine State Music Theater. With the 2020 season lined up the Corona virus forced the cancellation of the entire season 😢. We were given the option of a refund, partial refund or donation. With retirement in the not to distant future this was a hard decision for me but when I thought about how much I enjoy MSMT and would be hurt if they ceased to exist the decision was clear for me. Broadway caliber shows, songs, actors, music, lighting, crews, etc. What more do you need?
Attended my first performance at MSMT for a matinee of The Wizard of Oz. It was positively awesome. I enjoyed every minute of it. Acting, dancing and music were all fantastic. And the shuttle was an added perk! See you for the 2020 season. Thank you for all the hard work that goes into putting on these shows.

MSMT puts on 4 shows a season and offer up a constant mix of older and newer shows that vary from humor to drama and everything in between. The casts are brought in from around the country so as to ensure they have the quality performers ticket holders have come to expect. And no one leaves disappointed. From the Actors, the Costumes, the Sets and the outstanding Orchestra hitting the perfect note show after show night after night.
