Owned by celebrated restaurateur Suzanne Goin, Lucques has been the recipient of many accolades and awards since its inception. Featuring a contemporary cuisine rich in Mediterranean flavors, the menu is a hit with the crowds, owing to its seasonal take on the dishes. The crowd consists of the elite and the rates are definitely on the higher side. Nevertheless, the meal justifies the prices.

Good but too ecclectic w/ingredients – Wonderful atmosphere, great service, excellent wine list, terrific bar area, okay meal choice, iffy combination of ingredients on most of limited menu items... Doesn't compare to a place like Sona... around the corner and down the block... wasn't bowled over... like some of my friends
Always Amazing – In many trips, I have yet to take a single bite of food at Lucques that was less than stellar.
Go for Sunday evening. They have a limited, two entry choice along with first course and dessert, and the prices are WAY below what you'll pay during the week. If you're lucky you'll hit a gem of a meal and a reasonable tab. Done this four times, never disappointed.
All show but no substance – The atmoshere here is great but it doesnt make up for the poorly prepared food. The food was bland and there was not anything particularly special about it. I went with several people and it seemed as if they were all disapointed in their meal.
The Emperor is in a G-String and Pasties – The Lucques ladies seem to have a knack for wowing the critics, but leaving me decidedly underwhelmed. It's one of those places where the food is detailed on the menu in an absurdly overwrought and precious fashion, and ends up being simply not that great. Nor, in my opinion, particularly creative. Granted, I often find myself the odd-person out in my ambivalent at best view, hence the title, but there it is. PS - And I find the patio is oppressive in its starkness.
lukewarm food – Great food preparation. Great ideas and flavors. Excellent service. But all these efforts become worthless if you don't serve the food at the proper temperature. That's what happened to me with my risotto, barely lukewarm.
overrated oasis – Wonderful, sophisticated and warm atmosphere. The service was also good. The food, however, is overrated. For the price range (not the most expensive but still pricey - easily 170+ for 2), the menu selection was limited and mundane, and the meal itself quite standard. It did not offer the high food quality of similar restaurants in its Zagat category. For the fact that it's a great place to hang out and the food is good (but not great), I would return, however.
Great Stuff – So the food looks good and tastes even better. But we have a name for this food CALIFORNIA CUISINE. Take your regular meals and add a French presentation and you have Lucques. @ 7.50
WOW! – Fantastic experience! Food, wine and waitstaff were spot on. Cozy, clean and perfect for lingering. The best prep of salmon I've ever had (w/bacon over cabbage-sounds weird but worked.) They accomodated our party of 4 at the last min. on a Fri. night and gave no attitude about it.
