Owned by celebrated restaurateur Suzanne Goin, Lucques has been the recipient of many accolades and awards since its inception. Featuring a contemporary cuisine rich in Mediterranean flavors, the menu is a hit with the crowds, owing to its seasonal take on the dishes. The crowd consists of the elite and the rates are definitely on the higher side. Nevertheless, the meal justifies the prices.

Parent of growing L.A. restaurant dynasty serves inventive Cal-French fare in a charming Melrose setting. – The Scene This converted carriage house, once the abode of famed silent film star Harold Lloyd, welcomes with a sleek California ski lodge feel. Weathered brick, exposed wood beams, a prominent, wood-burning fireplace, a cozy bar and a lovely canvas-draped patio all create a homey, upscale vibe. Engaging owner/chef Suzanne Goin is more often at sister property, A.O.C. or her husband's Hungry Cat, but her expert hand is... read more
We left minutes after sitting down. – I took my husband here for a nice dinner. I was hesitant to go because when I made the reservation the woman was extremly rude - but we figured we'd give it a try. When we got there we were given a table towards the back - where they squeeze 4 tables together when there should only be 3. We were all on top of each other. The attitudes of the wait staff were beyond words. The menu would have been good only if you're a die hard meat eatter. Even my husband who loves meat couldn't find anyt... read more
A Nice Evining – This place is great for a quiet evening out. Great food and awesome wine list.
the greasiest spoon west of mel's drive-in – had heard great things about lucque's, but beyond the ambience i was not that impressed. we tried everything our server reccommended-- the summer squash soup and barnade toast to start and the shortribs and the salmon as our main course. The summer squash soup was merely adequate, and the barnade toast tasted like a poor man's open-faced day old tuna fish sandwich. The salmon was drenched with a sort of sour cream like substance-- the resulting concoction was a soggy waste of what... read more
Fantastic! – Probably the BEST food in Los Angeles. I've eaten at Lucques many times and the meals are always great. The wine list is diverse and i've loved each wine i've selected. It's also a great place just to go to have dessert and coffee and sit by the fire.
Decent food, horrible service! – Skip the squash appetizer - ours was a bland, greasy mess. The club steak, however, was wonderful! Even though the steak was excellent, the overall experience was disappointing. The waiter and bartender were completely incompetent. Our drinks were made incorrectly, and the bartender refused to re-make them. We never saw our waiter (dinner for two lasted three hours). Finally, we were not asked if we wanted dessert. Instead, the waiter threw the dessert menus at us and walked away without sayi... read more
Go for the lamb! – Had the lamb daube here and it was absolutely exceptional. The wine list isn't too bad, either, although I did splurge and went for a selection that was $20/glass! Flavors and texture of food was amazing, and do go for a nice, crisp salad as a starter. My only complaint was that the service was rather slow. Our waiter took about 45 minutes to get our food out! Had reservations at 7:30 and food finally arrived at the table at 8:30. Dessert was also very good, the runners were very attentive and continued po... read more
Superlative Sunday Supper – The Sunday Supper at Lucques - a $35 prix fixe dinner - is easily the best dining deal in Los Angeles. The ingredients are all fresher than fresh; seasonality is the star here. The restaurant is a beautiful, cozy space, lively but quiet enough for intimate conversation. Service is attentive but discreet. This is an especially great place for group dining. Lucques is a gem, and Sundays are when it really shines.
Good but too ecclectic w/ingredients – Wonderful atmosphere, great service, excellent wine list, terrific bar area, okay meal choice, iffy combination of ingredients on most of limited menu items... Doesn't compare to a place like Sona... around the corner and down the block... wasn't bowled over... like some of my friends
