Disappointing – The day of my facial I was satisfied. But the next day my neck began to itch from the cream the facialist massaged my neck and chest with. Within a week my skin was dry and scaly. I was supposed to get the $50 Spa Week special, but I ended up paying $88, excluding the tip. Lia is also quite aggressive about selling her products...you have to be able to say no. She tried to get me to buy a package of six facials...thank goodness I didn't do it. Last Saturday I tried another place for a deep pore cleansing faci... read more
Professional, Expert Facial – I am surprised to read some of the recent negative reviews. I went during Spa Week, but even though it was busy, I got great care. I was taken promptly and my aesthetician was lovely. We chatted a little, but she gave me plenty of peace and quiet to relax. Neck and shoulder massage was lovely. I have sensitive skin and have broken out from facials before--no problem here. I left with my skin feeling clean, refreshed and dewy. I'm very happy with the results and would definitely go back. No hard ... read more
Do not go! – After I visited the Lia Schorr spa I knew I wanted to register on Citysearch to help future customers (the experience was that bad!). My friends and I signed up to get facials for spa week and agreed we would never go back. When we first arrived, Lia chat on the phone + kept us waiting outside the glass door before buzzing us in. The atmosphere horrible during facials-- we could hear footsteps upstairs, staff cleaning in the hallway, conversation in the next room, and toilets flushing!!! We were left for 30 minu... read more
User review by littlebean – Went to Lia Schorr for a facial and massage. Was disappointed by the condition of the facility. Expected a spa, but the place looked run down. I waited for 45 minutes before being shown into a room for a massage which was supposed to come after the facial. My room looked like a TINY storage room with boxes everywhere. Even my masseuse was upset. Then for the facial, my esthetician left the room while steaming me and then forgot about me! She had stomach problems and had to leave. No problem - just... read more
WOULD NEVER GO BACK – went here recently for a package deal,an amazng $140 for a massage, facial, mani/pedi. The spa is nothing to look at it but at $140 i was okay with that.the massage was pretty good, but during facial i was left for about 45 mins with a mask on. when the facialist was in the room, i was scolded me about my skincare. the mani/pedi was below par. i would have left feeling okay if i had not been accosted by lia when i was checking out, she told me exactly what i had to tip each lady who did my treatment whi... read more
Lia has no concept of Customer Service!! – I agree with other comments, Lia is rude and very bad at managing appointments. She says yes to everyone, as a result at you make an appointment but she is unable to honor it. Massages are good but with facials they multitask, leaving you for with steam for almost half hour while they attend another person next door. Overall, when you have as many option as in NYC, why bother wasting time at Lia Schorr!
Noisy Spa – The facial was really nice, but def not worth the money. It is way too noisy and disruptive to the experience. The rooms dont even have calming music to block out the hallway noise. You can hear the toilet flush, cell phones go off and people talking. You can get a great facial, but not worth it if you cant get some realxation. Also, the owner is not very friendly. She didnt even greet me when I came in. She looked rushed and made me feel that way as well.
too much pressure!!!! – Though I can't really complain about the quality of the facials at Lia Schorr (though I was abandoned with a mask on my face for what felt like 40 minutes during one visit) the service is pretty unbearable. I always had to wait around for extended amounts of time for Lia to get off the phone to check me in (and again when it was time to pay), every time I was there I was seriously pressured to buy a package, and if that's not bad enough they once kept me waiting for over and hour for my appointment wi... read more
terrible customer service – My visit started badly. the owner yelled at me when I didn't want to give her my address. Facial was comprehensive, but my esthetician was DEFINITELY working on another client at the same time and I was left alone in the tiny room for 20 - 30 minute stretches. Very hard sell for a $45 glycolic mask. When I was finished, another hard sell by the owner to buy a package. A package? I don't ever want to go back. No thank you, no smile, nothing. What ever happened to "customer service"?
