Having worked here. I was massively let down when pressure as a team leader and inadequate staffing became an issue. Rhe home is quite female carer based. Edna went to stay at Wharfedale House, intending to be there for two weeks respite care, when she was finding it difficult to cope at home. On arrival she spoke to some of the residents before seeing her lovely room and immediately wanted to stay there permanently. All the staff were wonderful with Edna in every respect and when she became very poorly they looked after her with love and compassion. Starting as the new Administrator in January 2022 i have been welcomed with open arms since day one. Never doing admin in this sort of environment before I feel i have wasted my work life when a job like this is so rewarding. The service users are all so lovely and it feels good that they can come to me with any issues to help. James, the manager, and Millie, his deputy have made such a difference since they were appointed. They are approachable and committed, with the result that Wharfedale House has a positive atmosphere and is being run for the benefit of the residents. Staff show respect and commitment. Activities seem to have increased and notices are always kept up to date. I am always made to feel welcome whenever I visit my son and I know I could air any concerns, knowing they would be acted on.
