I phoned Lane's to rent a car and was asked, "Where are you based?" When I told them I was from Edinburgh, I was asked why I was renting from them, a Bromley company. I explained that I was coming to Bromley by train for a weekend and wanted a car while I was there. She responded that their company was only for Bromley people, not for people from Scotland. Straightforward process of renting a car, great customer service! I exceeded the allowable mileage but the charge was waived as I accidentally topped up too much petrol! Very kind gesture and will highly recommend!

Hired a small automatice car for a long weekend end of June. Have used Lanes several times before. As always no-nonsense clear instructions. The ladies in the office always know what's what and are both efficient and pleasent to deal with. None of that overly obsequious niceness, which I loathe. The charges are clearer than most. Finally, returning the car with the same fuel level - excellent. I hired somewhere else recently (for the last time) where you got it near empty and had to return it so. What a pain that was.
