I have been a member for a LOT of years! I have been trying to cancel my membership since Jan. I was deployed to combat zone and was trying to complete before I left the country and the OG wasn't available. I tried to call and was told someone would need to come in personally. I sent an email and no response. I just went to my local fitness center yesterday (I am back in the states) and was told to come back today. I just went back and was told the OG was the only one that could help me and he wouldn't be back until Thursday... read more

LA Fitness has handled the covid pandemic horribly. I was charged for another 2 months of membership AFTER every facility in my state was already closed. My girlfriend was also charged for her training membership after the facility has already been closed. Now, I have been trying to cancel or at least place everything on a temporary hold, but LA Fitness West Chester has not been understanding or accommodating. They placed our gym memberships on hold instead of cancel, and my girlfriend tried to cancel her personal training m... read more

I have emailed and tried calling numerous times. I can't seem to get a hold of anyone at LA FITNESS to cancel membership. They debit my account monthly. At the beginning of the pandemic they sent email that everyone's account was on hold. NOT TRUE they continue to debit account starting in March until now. I've email corporate office and League City locations within a months time period with no response from either.

The gym is fine as long as you never need to change anything about your membership. Once you need to change something, you realize they have the worst customer service ever. The operations manager is the only person in the building that can answer any questions other than "Where is the bathroom?" or "What time is it?" The managers are apparently never there. I called numerous times and every single time I was told they would leave a message which only resulted in 1 callback. I called 4 different clubs and it was the same thi... read more

LA Fitness Refuses to Support the Health and Safety of a High-Risk Member during COVID-19: I would like to begin by saying that I have had the worst experience trying to resolve canceling the remainder of my personal training sessions I cannot attend due to my health and safety. Over the course of 30 days I have attempted to resolve this issue 11 different times with LA Fitness's managers. They have been extremely unprofessional and careless in their understanding of the virus. I have submitted all of the paperwork needed to... read more

Refused to help at-risk COVID patients in reimbursing unused membership. Spent more than half an hour arguing with my husband on the phone after they charged a $50 annual fee RIGHT AFTER he told them he could not come in to use the facilities and they had assured him he would only be charged a $10/month holding fee. This place definitely feels like a total scam, and at the very least has the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

I signed an annual personal training contract with LA Fitness on 6/8/2019. I started having hip issues in December so I couldn't schedule any sessions. I spoke to another trainer and to the person I signed the contract with. They assured me that I could schedule all sessions not used when I got better. I ended up having a hip replacement in March, at the same time that Covid19 hit. I continued with my monthly payments, feeling confident that I would be able to use all of my unused sessions once I rehabbed with my physical th... read more

In creating a business model for modern gyms and in providing an experience to customers, LA Fitness has largely failed, and consumer advocates should have LA Fitness directly on their radar. I hope that individual consumer advocates and also organizations like the Better Business Bureau will look into LA Fitness and find ways to get them to improve. For one, just being in the gyms themselves can be a frustrating experience. Broken weight machines sometimes go unfixed for months (and in the case of one particular deltoid mac... read more
