History Established in 1949. On February 24, 1949, Kern Employee's Federal Credit Union was officially established to serve the employees who worked for the County of Kern. At that time, there were approximately 60 members and $1,500 in assets. In 1980, we changed our name to Kern Federal Credit Union in order to extend our membership to anyone who works, lives, or worships in Kern County. Never ever bank here!!! Had money in a savings account making a penny every month... After my loan had been paid off for a year they started charging $5.00 a month dormant fee.... It's a savings account for christs sake!!! Rip off bank

We also make every attempt to contact our members when their account is about to reach a dormant state. An account falls dormant when there has been no activity on the account for a period of 12 months. If you have any questions please feel free to send us a message and we’ll be happy to look into it for you.
My checking account pays ME a few extra dollars at the end of the month, instead of vice versa. Love it.
