Worst sushi in Kansas City – As a sushi lover, any other sushi restaurant in Kansas City is better than Kabuki. Kabuki is often less than clean. Kabuki has terrible service. Kabuki sometimes uses mayonaise on their rolls. Yich. Hikari is inconsistent. Sushi House is overpriced, but the environmnet is the best. Juns is reliable, but service can be lacking. Siki is the best overall.
Best green tea ice cream, EVER! – My boyfriend and I were shopping at Bed Bath & Beyond and decided to give Kabuki a shot. The sashimi was okay, not bad and the rolls we had were pretty good. (can't remember which ones) But, the Fried, yes, FRIED, Geen Tea Ice Cream was SO good! It's green tea ice cream, wrapped with pound cake and then fried in tempura batter. Yum! You have to go there just for this dessert! I've only lived in LA for 4 months and have been twice now...so far, it's our favorite sushi place, but I'm still sea... read more
big, loud, and just so convenient – I go to Kabuki a lot. Because it's the best sushi in town? No. It's big. You don't need a reservation and they'll seat you pretty quickly. It's extremely convenient if you're seeing a movie at the ArcLight. Really good apple martinis (do not have more than one if you're driving or you WILL get a DUI.) But do have one, YUM! Complimentary edamame, which is a nice touch. Miso never hot enough. California rolls are good and so is most all sushi. Reasonably priced. If you want a smaller scale (... read more
Not to be dismissed - Kabuki is a contender – The thing about Kabuki is, it's a somewhat large place, and there are multiple locations. So you are not going to make this your favorite 'little' sushi spot. But with that said, the quality is pretty good. After all, it's not like you are eating off a buffet in Vegas - this is good, hand cut sushi - and they have a full menu and full bar, which is nice. The wait staff is usually young and friendly. They can handle a crowd, so don't back down if it's Friday night and you want to ... read more
its a quick fix to sushi – i remember when kabuki first came to pasadena. all the workers are korean and tried to be japanese. still its like it today, if you go here, all the workers are korean. even the sushi chefs. the food isnt all that authentic but it does seem somewhat fresh. yes there are better sushi places in pasadena but if you want somewheree cheap, then this is the place for you. on the happier note, the kabuki on foothill, near best buy is WAY better then the one on old town. something about the place in oldtow... read more
well-priced Sushi – I read a lot about the bad service of Kabuki here, but I didn't agree it all. We dined at their old Pasendena's store at the Veteran's Day, though it was crowded and busy, the dishes were served constantly. We ordered sushi, sushi mi, everything were quiet fresh, you wouldn't expect they were those traditional sushi you can eat at Japan, it's a bit American style, large portion, but they were still adorable! Athough the teriyaki was a bit bland not very impressed. And they are not pricey, we ordered so ma... read more
Kabuki Japanese Restaurant – When I first walked in the restaurant smelled fishy. When I relayed this to someone who knew about Sushi, I was told that meant the fish wasn't fresh. Well, anyways, I asked for a seat in the back of the restaurant so I wouldn't have to smell the fish. I ordered a salad that had chicken in it. The food was mediocre. I would not run back to the restaurant. If someone really wanted to go there, I would go with them. By the way, when I walk in Musashi's in Northridge, the Sushi bar doesn't smell fis... read more
