Kabuki

4.3

About this business

Kabuki usually refers to Japanese theater of the 17th Century. However, in this case it refers to innovative sushi created by a dedicated staff of master chefs. Their goal is to present a menu filled with umai, or deliciousness in every bite. This selection includes volcano Sushi (baked spicy tuna), rose roll (shrimp tempura, avocado, spicy tuna), and miso marinated black cod. Finish off your meal with Mochi ice cream and you will leave with the flavor of umai, but also with happiness, or Ureshii.

GREAT Hollywood Sushi – I came here on a work function and was blown away. Now, in fairness, work PAID for it, so we really went buckwild with our selections, but this means I've actually sampled most of the menu, and everything on here is stellar. They have a wide variety of warm rolls, which I usually don't care for, but they do sushi right at Kabuki, and I would recommend anybody in the area swing through, especially for their happy hour, which is one of the best, period, in LA.

Awful Customer Service! – I apologize in advance for the rant, but I had to say something... When my boyfriend and I were given a gift card to Kabuki, I immediately checked out the menu online as I’d never been to any of their locations before. The menu was so extensive and I wanted pretty much everything so I couldn’t wait to go. We made a reservation, although when we arrived the place was practically empty which isn’t exactly a great sign for Friday night at 8pm. We ordered drinks and appetizers when we first sat down, an... read more

GREAT HAPPY HOUR = LOVE IT – Love this place. One of the best Happy Hour places in Hollywood. Has a larger variety to pick from the normal Happy Hour places I have been and very very reasonably priced. I love this place. Great ambiance !!!

Sushi and sake for those on the go – The Hollywood outpost of this oft-overlooked chain boasts sleek design, with an eye toward mixing traditional decor with more trendy elements such as track lighting. The menu features entrees such staples as teriyaki, tempura, hibachi plates, noodle dishes (think udon) and a full range of sushi and sashimi. Kabuki’s Executive Chef Masa Kurihara makes sure the quality of each dish is as good as it can be nightly despite the high volume of food served up here. And sake fans take note: Maste... read more

i had that same woman too – I was reading some of these comments and noticed the one about the woman who rolled her eyes! I started dying because I went in with some of my friends and had the same experience. Asked her a question and she answered abruptly and ROLLED HER EYES. Kaci you are not doing Kabuki a service, because we are not going there again!

FOOD ILLNESS!! Don't come here! – My girlfriend and I ate here about two months ago and shared the spicy tuna on crispy rice in addition to our own entrees. To start with our entree's came before our appetizer and my girlfriend's entree was cold. Then came our appetizer and then our drinks. Unfortunately we did not send back our meals because they took so long in the first place and we were going to a movie across the street. The waiter did apologize for the mess ups and we still tipped 25%. The worst was yet to come: When w... read more

Bitter Sweet: keep the sushi get rid of that woman! – My girlfriend and I have been going to the Hollywood location for a while and usually had a wonderful experience, but last friday was bitter sweet. The server was helpful and great, the food was ok, but this one women with a white shirt (who I think is the manager) was awful. She seemed to try to hurry us out and was extremely rude. I asked her a question about the sushi and she rolled her eyes before she answered. ROLLED HER EYES! I was fuming! That woman needs to go, be... read more

Good sushi....clean, fun atmosphere – I started going to Kabuki back in 2006 when my audio engineer program had classes at a building nearby. Several classmates and myself enjoyed hanging out before class and sometimes after class eating sushi and drinking some beers and sake. The bartenders were always cool and attentive and the servers were pretty good as well. Being a huge Los Angeles Lakers fan, my classmates/friends would watch almost every Lakers game at Kabuki....the ONLY crappy thing about that was that the TV didnt ... read more

Skip it – Alright, so I'll start with the good. Service was pretty good, had a very cute attentive waitress. However, she did not recommend good dishes. Food was horrible. Yes, they give you complimentary edamame, but big deal when it's served ice cold....because your not going to eat it. Spicy tuna salad had no flavor what so ever and the spicy tuna was mushy and fatty!!!! The rolls were even worse, no creativity. My pet peeve...when restaurants put fish eggs in your food and the menu doesn't say so. The waiter should warn ... read more
