Excellent Dr. He is a wonderful surgeon, but surgery is not the first path for recovery he seeks ( if possible) for his patients. He looks for the least invasive path for recovery. If surgery is required, he takes time to provide each patient the attention and time required. I was astounded to hear his voice on a Sat. morning the day after my outpatient surgery, asking me how I was doing. He is truly a caring and amazing surgeon!
Hopeful an epidural will help identify back/hip pain. Dr. Shibayama good time to show me my X-ray and potential problem. Friendly staff
Dr Shibayama gave me a great synopsis of what was to be done as far as my bone spur affecting my right leg numbness. Hopefully the epidural will help with the final diagnosis.
Dr S. listens intently to the patient, does thorough evaluations, and discusses treatment options in layman terms. In fact, upon reading the MRI after my initial visit, he personally called me at home and accelerated my follow up appt. His professional expertise allows him to offer proven treatment options early in the process , allowing the patient to achieve better mobility and reduce or eliminate the pain burden. My only regret is that it took 9 painful years to find him.

I have degenerating disc disease and have required three separate back surgeries on my spine over a period of more than 20 years. Each time Dr. Shib has fixed the discs in my back that had degenerated. The third surgery was the most extensive fusing all my discs from my shoulder blades to the bottom of my spine. Although I am not able to bend over very easily and cannot curl up in a ball at all...I AM out of pain and can still do most everything else I could do before these surgeries.
Not only is he a outstanding surgeon, he is a just, upright, honest and Godly man. He is my Brother in Christ and Friend. He did 3 Lower back bone fusions on me and I will recommend him to everyone.
Dr. Shibayama did my neck c6-c7, he put a cadaver bone and fused them together, i did not have any complications and went home the same day. he is a GREAT DOCTOR
My cervical fusion surgery relieved the pain I had experienced for months. Two days after surgery I knew I was better. The pain and numbness were gone. I was very impressed withDr. Shibayama’s care and concern. On top of praying with me before surgery he called multiple times after surgery (personally) to check on my progress. I feel confident recommending him to others.
