Breakfast on the patio in the heart of Broadway. – In Short Large windows filter in sunlight, life-sized Liza Minnelli photos hang on exposed brick. A wide-ranging menu includes pint-sized options for kids and plenty of treats for both vegans and vegetarians. Share a cinnamon roll while you wait for breakfast. The open-faced turkey-sausage biscuit (with scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese) is to die for. Giant burgers share lunch- and dinner-menu space with fish and chips, pastas and grilled chicken.
Great place to relax! – Go in and relax! This is one of the few places on Broadway where I dont feel like I am being hurried on my way. The wait staff is pleasant and often entertaining, the food and drinks are consistently good, and there is live entertainment every evening. Julias is great place for dinner with friends.
Cardboard Anyone? – After receiving a gift certificate for Julia's, we thought, "Great!" We had been meaning to go for some time. We arrived to a beautiful space with great dark wood and blood red paint, (not what you'd expect on the hill) and some great jazz singing. The good times ended before we sat down. The food was a pathetic attempt at imitating any other "Northwest Style" restaurant only with downtown prices. For a tough steak and dry pork, I'll go eat my mother's food...and not have to spend $16.95 each. We thought ... read more
Inconsistent but improving – This is a great space that has had a very difficult launch. At first the food was crudely put together and extremely slow to arrive. The first couple of times I was comped something without asking because it was obvious they blew it. Seems to be getting better though. Drinks have always been great. Space is great but the severe wooden tables and chairs do not go with the otherwise lush interior. It would be SO much better with some comfy booths.
listen to the critics – we went for lunch at 1pm on a Saturday and when we asked for a lunch menu, you might as well have asked for an uncooked live pig- the waiter looked at us like we were insane and coldly said 'we don't have lunch until 3 on weekends!' and huffed off from our table. Last time we inquired about a holiday buffet from the person who approached the hostess stand his exact words 'I have NO idea...." and then begrudgingly went to get the manager. I will say the manager was very polite but her staff is NOT!
I've never had a bad meal at Julia's. – I've been to Julia's many times, and enjoyed myself every time. The drinks are great, the food tasty, and the service has always been friendly and helpful (if at times a bit slow). I love that they have many vegetarian options, because my gang of friends includes many veggie eaters. The only con I can think of is that occasionally the food is a bit too spicy-hot.
Big menu, good food – I met a friend for a late lunch here today. I was surprised by the large menu, and the fact that breakfast is served until 4:30 p.m. daily. I ordered the black bean burrito, which was really good, except that it was REALLY SPICEY -- that should have been noted on the menu. When I originally received my order, I did not receive the accompanying guacamole or chips. After asking for it, I received it. The pricing is very good, and the portions are pretty large. The service overall was good, though not as a... read more
we had the best dinner ever on a recent visit to Julia's on Broadway. We had been going to their Wallingford location for ever, and recently tried out Broadway. What a pleasant restaurant, beautiful decor, friendly service and one of the best dinners we've had in a long time. The baked goat cheese appetizers was fantastic. We will be back soon.
It'll be a cold day.... – ...Before I willingly go in again. I don't know what zhaanlives thinks makes Julia's on Broadway so great, but the food and service was slow, given that my friend and I were one of 3 tables occupied at 2 on a frigid Saturday afternoon. Lots of natural light, nice color scheme and even a clean men's room make the space comfortable Sadly, the Christmas tree and other large trees along with the constant blast of cold air from the side door were too much. And zhaanlives, you best pay better attention to... read more
