are we talking about the same Julia's? – Some of the folks writing the bad reviews here must be mistaking this listing for another Julia's. I mean, I've never even *seen* a female waiting tables here - they are all guys (probably due to the heavy gay population in Capitol Hill). We live up right up the street from Julia's and eat there a LOT. The waiters are tremendously nice, the food is incredibly good (big portions), and the only time it was ever slow was when we went there for New Year's dinner. Now for truly bad service... read more
Great value – My one experience at Julia's was great--good, personable service, really tasty food, and generous portions for the price. I love the ambiance, and the Happy Hour menu will keep me coming back.
yuck – 15 minutes for a free table. 20 minutes waiting for service. Waters arrives after 35! No orders taken for other 10 minutes. When food arrives, bread falls on the floor (other wait for fresh one), granola is served without milk, omelette floats in water. Coffee refills? Why bother... Quality of food was horrendous.
Lousy! – I've been to this place for brunch 3 times. And every time it was not a pleasant experience. First time, cold/lukewarm food. Very bland. Second time, same issue. Third time, my food was warm, but my friends (the ones who actually got the right order) food wasn't. The wait staff has always been somewhat oblivious, but the 3rd time the waiter was downright rude. Not to mention had no idea what he was doing, and couldn't be bothered to help us. Overall, very poor, and I've heard that from many. Too bad, it's a great sp... read more
can it really be this bad?! – I had the rudest service ever at Julia's on Broadway. (not fun rude but stupid, un-fun rude) Many mistakes were made, which would have been fine if the server had maybe smiled once, perhaps even apologized for the spilled food, forgotten items, and on and on. I'd never return there, ever. Darn shame.
FOOD FROM A CAN – Never again will I eat at Julia's. I will allow two visits to a restaurant before deciding whether or not to go back, in this case I gave it half a visit. We went for breakfast, and found the service incompetent . The coffee was barely warmed and transparent...luckily rarely refilled. My pancakes lacked the blueberries I had ordered except in a pile on top and worse came out of a CAN, in fact everything tasted canned!!! My friend's scramble was missing half of its ingrendients while my side of bacon was los... read more
I can't say I wasn't warned... – My girlfriend warned me of shoddy service and boring food... With my meal, the waiter substituted bread for my first choice without consulting me. Then he didn't get my order right. I ordered a bacon, mushroom, and swiss omelet. I received a bacon, ham, and cheddar omelet. I was hungry so I didn't care... until I took my first bite. The bacon was your Oscar Meyer variety, really boring. The ham was big COLD chunks and the cheese wasn't melted. I waited for him to come back and check on me but... read more
Hit or Miss – As a long-time fan of Julia's in Wallingford, I will admit that I'm a little disappointed by the food at the Broadway location. I had their famous "Cinnamon Yum Yum" (cinnamon french toast), and it arrived looking a bit sad, alone on a plate with a small sliver of orange as its only garnish. While the decor is fantastic, the presentation of food is clearly not a priority and I swear the dish itself wasn't as "yum yum" as it has been when I had it in Wallingford. Be ready for surprises! During one recent brunch,... read more
Blecch! – It's a pity the food and service don't match the decor. I had brunch here shortly after it opened, and it took over an hour to get an omelette that was amazing for its blandness. Sometime after the restaurant opened, I again attended the restaurant with a birthday dinner party. The service was again slow, they didn't get my order right, and when I finally did get it, the chicken marsala should have been patented as a new form of synthetic rubber. Broadway's business district needs rejuvenation, unfortunately, Julia... read more
