My experience? One word sums it up, NIGHTMARE!! I wish there were negative stars. BEWARE! I’ve had 2, and will require another 2-3 surgeries to correct what this ‘surgeon’ has done to me. There’s a difference between a mistake and pure ignorance. I have spent a week in critical care to boot. This man needs to be stopped before he kills someone. Dr Cheatle did a shunt surgery on me for an arachnoid cyst on my brain. 7 weeks post OP and I had to beg to see him ( I was in intense pain)! When he FINALLY saw me, he swore at me and my husband and said that I was fine. I left and went to Wilmington where I was admitted and emergency surgery done, as my shunt had come undone and my head was filling with spinal fluid! I woke up in ICU as I also hemmoraged. One of the best in the field. He was genuinely concerned about my medical care. He listened to all my concerns and explained everything in the easiest way to understand. He truly goes out of his way to make sure you get exactly what you need. He only gives you the care you need not just a generic formula for every patient. Would recommend him to anyone anytime.

wonderful care-too bad he works out of grand strand hospital
The initial wait to get into see him and schedule surgery was a few months but worth it I had some some unforseen circumstances that occurred. I had a thin Dura which required a patch and also obtained an infection so going with the best paid off. Dr. Cheatle stopped to speak with me every day I was in the hospital. Which over a three-week period of time was quite a bit. He kept me informed on my condition and the plan of attack Very good Dr with a heart of gold.
A very professional, thorough and personable physician. Dr. Cheatle takes the time to review all your medical records, diagnostic and imaging reports and then provides a complete examination. He then talks to you in a way that puts you at ease during your visit. He gives you his opinion, alternatives and makes recommendations so that you have all the facts to make a sound decision.
I highly recommend anyone who needs neurosurgery to see Dr. Cheatle. He is top in his field in my opinion. He is professional, kind and caring. He takes the time to explain what needs to be done and answers any questions you have without rushing you out of the office he gives you the time you need, unlike some Doctors who always seem to be in a hurry to get to the next patient. His staff is very helpful and always pleasant.
