Opened in the summer of 2006 to replace the aging University Hall, the University of Virginia now holds its basketball games, concerts and other events in this 16,000 seat arena. Built almost entirely from a private donation, it takes its name from a former alumni, and not the Revolutionary War naval hero. It shouldn't be hard for fans to find, since it's right across the street from the old facility.

Love JPA, but had a TERRIBLE cup of coffee tonight. Thank goodness for the victory over Wake!
Wonderful place and the workers are super helpful when trying to find seats for the basketball games.
We love JPG, always have big fun there! (It would have been better if the Hoos hadn't snatched defeat from the jaws of victory... )
Was at a Women's basketball tournament. Facilities are nice, staff was extremely nice but was disappointed that an arena of that caliber has such an uninformative stat board for basketball. It only showed the team shooting stats and scores, no individual stats. Prices of food and snacks are unreasonable starting with the bottled water at $4.00. That is basically price gouging.
It's not hard to see why the City of Richmond and the Coliseum have lost so many attractions to JPJ. First class facility and the nicest staff.
