Opened in the summer of 2006 to replace the aging University Hall, the University of Virginia now holds its basketball games, concerts and other events in this 16,000 seat arena. Built almost entirely from a private donation, it takes its name from a former alumni, and not the Revolutionary War naval hero. It shouldn't be hard for fans to find, since it's right across the street from the old facility.

The building was clean and everything about the experience it self was awesome. The only issue me and my gf had faced was the parking situation. I felt a little lost before we finally asked some guard a question and they guided us to where we had to go.
Poorly planned and weakly executed event. Not enough resources.. open the purse, hire more people to assist in directing traffic, assist in seating. You made a profit but you won't see me return,, how many other customers have been dismayed by your poorly cheaply frugal management
I took my daughter here to see the Twenty One Pilots last night and it was our first time here so we didn't know what to expect. The directions to get here was great, existing 118B instead of 124 from Richmond and it got us faster to the parking lot plus I got here 2 hours early. The price to park was outrageous: $15. It's a good thing I had a $20 bill. That price is the price I paid for a Disney parking past year. It would have been nice if they let us in early, even 15 mins early from the cold rain that my daughter had to ... read more
I've never been to this arena but knew to get there early for the Twenty One Pilots concert. Parking was easy and well marked, entry was smooth, and everything else was as expected. Workers at concession and for the arena were nice and informative. I would return to this arena again. I stayed at UVA at their Inn so it worked out very smooth.
Venue is great. Not a bad seat in the house. I have been to numerous sports events and concerts there and have rarely had any major issues. However, the traffic control and parking for the Twenty One Pilots concert was horrendous. I paid in advance for a parking pass, but never got to use it. We had to bail off of Emmitt Street and walk it in the rain because we would have missed half the show waiting to get into the parking lot. Literally hours. I'm not sure what the deal was, but I've never seen it organized or executed th... read more
We were there last night for twenty one pilots concert. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed by the sold out crowd. The staff I encountered were friendly but the food was absolutely horrible and as we had been in line since 3 pm we had to find food inside when we finally got inside. Also noticed that the band merchandise was marked way up from the prices listed on the band's tour site. Overall it was a good experience. I mean we saw twenty one pilots, you can't complain but so much!! They rocked the place.
