I’m 66, enjoy the outdoors, fishing, our ranch, travel, and, most of all, my grandchildren & family. I’ve had chronic back pain over 25+ yes restricting lifting, standing, walking, & sitting for more than 15-20 minutes. I have MRI’s & x-rays that about 20-yrs for comparisons of the degeneration of the disc & deterioration of L2-L3. The earlier scans show healthy discs w/ no indications of abnormalities. Beyond expectations! My concerns were heard. I was educated in terms that helped me understand my diagnosis and recommend procedure. I was provided info on pre and post operative care, as well as several phone calls to assure my initial recovery was starting out positively. I can recommend Dr Stokes with confidence!

Great staff with positive attitudes and very knowledgeable.
5 stars for thorough review of all past images that prevented unnecessary spine surgery and found large brain tumor that endangered my mobility, His thoroughness and willingness to consider alternative sources of my problem made all the difference.

2June21 I had lumbar fusion. I feel well taken care of with immediate relief of symptoms and slight to moderate post op pain.
He treated me with a great deal of respect. He knew what was wrong and he fixed it. Very friendly. His staff is awesome also Kathy his PA is the very best. Thank you for taking care of me
I contacted Dr. Stokes for an appt. for a 2nd opinion. Before I could schedule an appt, his office staff told me he likes to look at my records to see if he can help me. My previous surgeon recommended me quite urgently for both cervical and lumbar surgeries, as does my pain mgmt Dr. each month. She said the Dr. would contact me the following Tuesday; he didn’t. His same office staff person called me 3 wks later telling me that Dr. Stokes reviewed my records and determined that he could not help me and did not recommend surg... read more
Dr Stokes was referred by another neurosurgeon due to complexity of situation. His decision to abort the surgery after anesthesia and C clamps installed into skull likely prevented paralysis from neck down. The OR monitors showed loss of signal to spinal cord. His decision to abort and reset surgery after explaining the next day, might have been a life saving decision. Dr Stokes is who anyone should want, if seeking the best outcome. I am 2 months post op. Great outcome he Is a 10!
