I contacted Dr. Stokes for an appt. for a 2nd opinion. Before I could schedule an appt, his office staff told me he likes to look at my records to see if he can help me. My previous surgeon recommended me quite urgently for both cervical and lumbar surgeries, as does my pain mgmt Dr. each month. She said the Dr. would contact me the following Tuesday; he didn’t. His same office staff person called me 3 wks later telling me that Dr. Stokes reviewed my records and determined that he could not help me and did not recommend surg... read more

Dr Stokes was referred by another neurosurgeon due to complexity of situation. His decision to abort the surgery after anesthesia and C clamps installed into skull likely prevented paralysis from neck down. The OR monitors showed loss of signal to spinal cord. His decision to abort and reset surgery after explaining the next day, might have been a life saving decision. Dr Stokes is who anyone should want, if seeking the best outcome. I am 2 months post op. Great outcome he Is a 10!

I have had several serious spine surgeries - cervical and lumbar. The meeting that I had with Dr Stokes was amazing. You can sift the good from the bad just by the first meeting. He spent over an hour with me explaining (on his state of the art tablet) the condition of my neck post surgeries and what my options were going forward. I was stunned that I had not met him before since I have left Austin to go to other cities for surgeries. He gave me faith in his ability and expertise. Thumbs up!

I went to see Dr. Stokes because I wanted to know whether or not I am a candidate for a two level disc replacement and if not, I was ready to sign up for cervical spinal bone fusion surgery. After examining me, Dr. Stokes advised me to have radio frequency ablation to determine whether my disc disease or the facet joint disease I also have was causing my pained he was correct!! Not only did Dr. Stokes make sure that I understood my numerous neck conditions, he is an excellent clinician.

Dr. Stokes probably spent more time visiting with me over my back issues than any doctor I've ever seen before. He has a large tablet with great graphics that he used to compare my MRI slides to a healthy spine and explain the differences. Then rather than say you need surgery immediately, he outlines a series of options going forward with the least invasive first. I would recommend Dr. Stokes to anybody! This guy is top-shelf.

Business response:

Vincent, Thank you for the positive review! We appreciate the feedback. Sincerely, Dr. Stokes and staff

Dr. Stokes went above and beyond with a great deal of patience to explain the spine issues that my mother in law was experiencing. He spent more time during the appointment than we could have ever expected. Additionally, his bedside manner is incredible. We would highly recommend Dr. Stokes!

I am a patient of Dr. Stokes and even more importantly a subject of successful back surgery. I was experiencing pain that was becomming crippling. Dr. Stokes performed a transforminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) to address a deteriorated disc and spinal mis-alignment. The results have been positive and amazing. My pain is gone and my recovery from surgery is very near complete. Dr. Stokes and his team were attentive, supportive, kind and in all ways professional and thorough.

Dr. Stokes is great! I had back surgery with another doctor that put me in worse shape than I was before surgery. I could barely walk, and had terrible nerve pain in my back and down my left hip and leg to my shin. He also discovered a fracture in one of my vertebrae that was most likely caused by the previous doctor. I saw 5 doctors and chose Dr. Stokes as he was the most thorough, down to earth, and upfront with what needed to be done (L4-L5 fusion). It wasn't easy, but Dr. Stokes and his sta
