I WILL NEVER GO BACK!! – Joan's on Third is officially on my s--- list! I went there today with my Mother for lunch and have never been treated so rudely and disrespected at a restaurant. First, we were denied our KCRW card discount (they do in fact accept it) and treated terribly when asked why not. I was overcharged on my salmon, we were given extremely skimpy portions for our vegetable dishes, and if it couldn't get any worse- there were hairs in our food! And I hate to say it, but I have felt awful since lunch and have e... read more

Cupcakes DRY!! – After seeing a resent TV spot specifically about Joan's cupcakes on Eye on L.A. I took a trip and purchased four different cupcakes, none of which were anything to write home about. The problem was the cake, it was dry and quite tasteless. I thought they might have been day old?? I was really expecting something special after paying $2-4 for EACH cupcake. The frosting on the signature chocolate (ding-dong like) cupcake was nice and melted in my mouth, but I've certainly had much better cupcakes at highschool... read more

Delish times a million – If heaven were a los angeles deli/sidewalk cafe, it would surely resemble Joans. I only wish they offered the curried chickpeas EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Delicious Gourmet Cupcakes – Joan's offers a rotating selection of tasty high-end cupcakes that are reminiscent of those Hostess treats you consumed as a kid. These cupcakes feature moist, airy cake with an injection of peanut butter or vanilla cream in the middle. In my opinion better than the cupcakes at Sprinkles.

YUM YUM!! – Went here for lunch and dinner two consecutives days in a row. The sandwiches are DELICIOUS, the desserts are DELICIOUS, the cheeses, bread, olive oil....ALL DELICIOUS. The servers are nice and friendly and very helpful. Through a recommendation from one of the servers, I sampled their brie and bought a pound of it to take home. It was very good. The only negative things I could mention are: 1. parking and 2. how busy it is, but what else would you expect from a great restaurant?

pastries and lunch. YUM! – i came to this place mainly looking to buy cupcakes. little did i know they served real food here. there was pasta and meat and salads. i bought some pasta and some salad, and it was delicious. they also have an extensive cheese selection. they'll let you taste any one of them, and suggest to you what goes well with it. the cupcakes were yummy.

Simply, the best – Despite the proliferation of many trendy lunching/brunching spots in Los Angeles, there are a select few that truly warrant the long lines that stretch out the door. Joan's on Third, an open-air gourmet marketplace and cafe, is one of them. With its pristine white surfaces, vast display of tantalizing baked goods and fresh deli salads, and browse-worthy shelves of specialty food items for sale, the bright space is the total package. The tuna melt and rosemary chicken sandwich never disappoint, the homemade... read more

Tasty but expensive – We ordered the meatloaf sandwich which was very delicious. The meat was very moist. It had good flavor, but it was a bit salty to my taste. We also had a trio of prepared salads that we chose. I really like the fennel salad. The tomatoe and fresh mozzarela was alright since I could make that. I saw the prepared salmon was $12! I was so shocked, it was such a small piece. I wanted to try their cupcakes but the guy in front of me took the rest of them as I was lining up to pay.

Expensive! – This place has pretty good food but is very expensive. Their Garden Veggie sandwich is good. The scallion pancake is flavorless but the sauce is full of flavor so it balances out, but I don't recommend getting it. The atmosphere is okay...very crowded with trendy folks that are rude. The service is mediocre.
