Shocked to see negative reviews on here. I guess you can't please everyone. I was very impressed by the office, staff and Dr. Shapiro. He's a great guy and has me on my way to a speedy recovery after an ACL tear. Thank you Dr. Shapiro!!
Dr. Shapiro performed total knee replacement surgery on my right knee in late January. I am very satisfied with the results and my recovery has gone better than expected. Although face-to-face time with Dr. Shapiro is minimal, he is a highly skilled surgeon with a specialty in treating knees.
My entire experience with the staff at Orthopedic Specialists of Seattle was exceptional.
Excellent sports med orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Shapiro is a direct, no nonsense guy. But I like that he was very clear in diagnosing my situation, what could be done to fix it, and recovery. He also instilled confidence in me throughout the process that surgical corrections would leave me as strong as ever. (ACL ligament replaced, and with aggressive PT, I was back skating in less than 6 months)
He has very poor bedside manner. He was short, appeared agitated and asked what I wanted to do instead of sharing the best course of action for me.
I agree with the previous comments about Dr. Shapiro being curt & seems bother by seemingly ridiculous questions. He gave me 2 choices for course of action for my knee problem. When asked for his opinion he told me he could not tell me & left it up to me to choose my path. The choice I made ended up being the worst decision of my life. 3 opinions afterwards all told me this surgery should have never been done (one said "no one in their right mind would have done this surgery). Poor bedside manner and did not take time to explain what he did during surgery. He also wrote a pain killer script that could not be filled and so had to suffer through it.
Dr. Shapiro performed my median meniscus removal knee surgery. He was very curt, seemed bothered by my questions after the surgery and prescribed a pain medicine that I was unable to get filled at my local CVS and Rite Aid after my surgery.
5 years ago surgery was done on my daughters shoulder and she still had a lot of pain. He redid the surgery and the procedure was not successful. I personally heard him talking to the insurance company and he said "don't worry I will make sure she passes the exam to go back to work. I will send her to a doctor to take care of that". I confronted him and of course he denied it. My daughter still has pain an it has been 5 years and I have been trying to find out what cane done. BEWARE
