I went to Jackson Hewitt at the Walmart location in Elgin. It was the worse experience imaginable. My tax preparer was not competent and did not have a strong command of the English language. She could not respond to simple questions, nor could she complete a simple form. I contacted the the owner of the franchise to share my experience and to have my return completed properly. Our experience with JH has been horrible. It took the tax preparer four hours to complete our return over two days: for the first fifteen minutes we had some concerns about our 2019 return and we might want to amend but the remainder of the after the first hour and a half and the next day were spent on the 20202 return. Terrible experience they quick to get you to file , Before they have everything to file .And don't ask all questions to make sure that you really need to file, as a person on disability for ESRD .Very unprofessional Then try to add on as many up charges as passible so can to make the most money from people they in it just for the quick buck and move on to the next person.

I took my taxes to their West Hills, CA location that they charged $50.00 for last year. Pedram spent close too 2 1/2 hours working the keyboard before announcing we would have to pay $386.00! WOW! When asked why it went from $50.00 to $386.00 he couldn't answer. Claimed "It's the software". Claimed he was texting a manager to request a discount but no answer. DO NOT ever use Jackson Hewitt's service. The mistake they made This Year ended up having my return amended and now even the IRS doesn't know when my family and I will receive it. Corporate just states that the JH office I went to is "independent" so it is not their problem. I explained how the office I went to utilizes the JH logo, so that office is the 'face' of Jackson Hewitt locally. got my taxes done here last week, and was charged an exorbitant amount! First, it was hard to get an estimate ahead of time about how much I might be charged. There base price is $159. They say they charge for extra forms, but they don't advertise how much. I did have some extra forms, but many of them just required 1-3 numbers to be added to the 1040 and added to other numbers. Totally unprofessional and untrustworthy at Cocoa, Fl. ******** office. The worst first: They emailed another person' tax returns to me...i have this woman's Ss#, DOB, address, telephone number and income information! They could not find mine for 3 days.
