Amazing work – I have been to Jack's twice now in the past 6 months and both experiences have been amazing. For the first time, a had a pair of jean's almost completely "rebuilt", turning them from a baggy mess into my now favorite pair. All hems and taking-ins have been top-notch and of the highest quality. Also, it is very reassuring that he seems committed to learning, or at least attempting, to learn the names of his customers. All in all, his tailoring is definitely worth the price!
Excellent quality and attention to detail – I recently brought a suit into Jack to have tailored and after getting it back, I am astonished by the results. Jack's expert skills made it fit extremely well and I can now wear it with a great deal of pride. I have very little experience in having tailoring done on any of my clothing so this was a first for me. Let me just say that I'm pleased that Jack was so welcoming about the whole process of what would be involved. He took the time to offer careful remarks on how the suit's ... read more
Completely Overpriced – $18 to do a simple hem on a pair of pants! Out of control. I should have done it myself. Maybe he is worth it for upscale alterations but something that simple? I dropped the pants off and asked how much they would be on the way out the door. I'm a mother on a tight budget. I kicked myself all the way home for leaving 2 pairs of pants there. I decided I would go back the next day and get them back since he also said it would take a week to hem the pants. I went back the next day and they were already ... read more
Best tailor ever! – Jacks is run by Jack quite naturally. What's impressive is that Jack does everything himself. I've found it quite important that the person doing the altering also do the measurements. The approach a lot of bigger places take in separating these tasks sacrifices a lot of quality, in contrast, Jack is all about quality. I'm a law student in the area and have interviews coming up. My old suits are well, old and that wouldn't do so I bought a new one. I liked the price, style and material of the new suit, bu... read more
Great service, great craftsmanship – I had three dress pants that needed to be significantly be taken in - in the order of 5-6 sizes. When I brought them to Jack, he was very straightforward about how hard it would be, how much it would cost, and whether he thought he could do the job or not (he could, of course). When I went to pick them up and tried them on, what once just dropped right to the ground were now fashionably fitting dress pants. Jack is very talented, straightforward, and personable - if you need anything more... read more
My favorite! – Of all the tailors I have used in my life, Jack is the best. He even remembers you by first name! He is a great listener and can often give recommendations based on his vast experience. I had a zipper replaced on a jacket and a pair of pants hemmed, and I'm very happy with the results. This is because Jack does all the sewing and mending and alterations HIMSELF!!! He doesn't have people working in the back for him, like most places. The last pants I needed altered he was able to do in 24 hours! My relative als... read more
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! – AVOID GUYS!! Save the effort and money. I took my DKNY trousers for alteration. I was charged a total of $51 = $18 (for pulling in the waist) + $18 (for pulling the seat in) + $15 (for hemming the pants). I know this is expensive, but I thought I was paying for the best (felt justified after looking at some of the reviews here). I go back and the waist didnot fit. I explained this to Jack. Instead of trying to redo the pants; he starts justifying and says the pants fit me just fine. I try explaining to ... read more
Want it fast and cheap...go someplace else. What is done right...go to Jack!!! – Every man needs a good tailor and Jack is THE BEST tailor in Boston, bar none. He can take an average suit and make it look great, and if you give him something a bit better ? he can make it look like you flew to Hong Kong for a custom fitting. From the moment you walk in the door, you know you are in the presence of a truly genuine and honest person. Jack is a gentleman and a master craftsman. He sees thing no other tailor in Boston can see, an... read more
Best Tailor around – A few months ago, I brought some high end jeans to Jack to have them shortened with the hem reattached. I was extremely happy with the results. I recently brought two new suits, two dress shirts and a topcoat to Jack for tailoring. One suit is a Luciano Barbera and the other is a Gianluca Isaia, both are three button jacket with flat front pants. Jack did an amazing job tailoring the suits. He took in the sides of the jackets, brought up the sleeves, took in the waist of the pants and hemmed both pairs o... read more
