Emerging from the alcoholic waves of post-Prohibition activity, Jack Fry's tavern opened up way back in 1933. Mr. Fry closed the original incarnation of the restaurant in 1972 and it changed hands for a few years until it re-opened with the same moniker in 1987. The new owner (a former waitress at old Jack's) still pays homage to the man with his old horse racing pictures and other sports memorabilia hanging on the walls. The food and Service was amazing! We had The short ribs dumpling appetizer. Dinner we had the pork chop and hamburger with salads. Amazing!!! Our only complaint was the noise! We had to yell to talk to each other across the table. Very disappointed.
Food was sensationable! However it's very loud and cramped. My biggest complaint though is that our waiter wasn't satisfied with his tip and he made it known! It was very unsettling when he came back to the table and asked if he did anything wrong and looked at his tip.

Jack Fry's is the best restaurant in Louisville. It was the perfect place for a birthday celebration. The food was excellent (shrimp and grits/pork chop) and the service was top notch. As the 3rd generation of my family to call Jack Fry's home, I am always impressed. I can only imagine what it would have been like to see it 50 years ago. Thank you!
This is a fantastic restaurant and with an incredible staff! The food was outstanding! We started with Spicy Fried Oysters and Short Rib Dumplings for appetizers. Dinner included Spinach Salad, Pork Shank and Lamb Chops. We finished with a Chocolate-Pecan Bar served with Woodford Reserve ice cream. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to experience a second to none dining experience. A special thank you to Stephanie Meeks and the entire staff at Jack Fry's!
