One of many offshoots of the original Ivar's Acres of Clams, the Salmon House represents the Seattle institution's attempt at contemporary dining. Located in a replica Indian longhouse, the restaurant features salmon and meats alder-smoked on the open-pit Indian-style barbecue. The chef does best with straightforward seafood preparations. Not my first time here but the Mardi Gras party was fun. The line for food was really really long, and they ran out of some food. I hope they make changes next year, like a meal instead of buffet of appetizers. Also where was the sweet tea? Southern food and no sweet tea? The band was great and the staff was friendly but perhaps overwhelmed. Also next year, find a southern cook for you beignets, King cake was good, chocolate masks were very cool, but the beignets were...off tasty but off. Looking forward to next year.

Love Ivar’s salmon house! One of my favorite spots in Seattle for a fresh bowl of chowder.
Grandson is gluten and dairy free, worked with the staff but must have not been able to get the message to the kitchen, he was sick the next morning. We know it is hard but have to be selective based on experiences so unfortunately can’t go back with him. Otherwise all was good but not outstanding.
